I don't drive in the Midwest. So not gonna comment on that. But I do drive 50 miles everyday for work on highway 101 going opposite of traffic. And I can go 80 even 85 easy. I can also go right few lanes and cruise 65 to 70mph if I don't feel like going that fast. This is true of here in California, and in Virginia, SC, NC, Nevada, and Utah (maybe minimum of 70 to 75 in utah). These are all places ive drivem extensively. But what do I know.

Bottom line just because people have different experiences doesn't mean they "don't know squat".

Thanks, gave me something to chew on.

So the next time i'm stuck behind someone in the fast lane doing 75 mph, i'll show them pity instead of getting annoyed.

Pity to think that's as fast as their car can go..

cause you losing the argument to people that have common sense, your trying to dupe into believing your a crusader for the poor guy that has an AT trans , and then tell us your truck cant get to 75MPH your credibility is like zero after that statement, and now you are playing Im a victim card so the Mods start locking up the peeps, we are familiar with the scenario

I know my 17 manual trans will go, but there is a point it won't go anymore and that was not because the engine didn't have more. I don't blame anyone for being unhappy with a shift happy trans. More gears means more shifting, and 10 speeds or atleast 8s are coming, they want the truck to stay at the sweet spot and thus will shift to stay as close as possible. Computers are not yet able to drive for us, but continue to get closer.

Found that out last year too. Was going 83 in a 70 on I-77 and got pulled over.
I was suppose to get a reckless driving charge but the officer reduced it to 80 to make it a normal ticket.
The 3rd gen Tacoma is sluggish on the highway alright.
Ask that officer that got me for 83 in a 70.

I find it hilarious that you don't think vehicle should be able to stay in top gear going the speed limit on the interstate.

My 89 Nissan pickup, 86 accord, 1992 civic, 1996 Cherokee, 2001 grand Cherokee, 2015 Tahoe can all drive the speed limit without downshifting 2 gears.

The only other vehicle I have had trouble with is a 1986 4Runner. Couldn't go faster than 65 if the wind blew. Maybe I am naive to expect a truck in 2017 to be able to easily go the speed limit while maintaing 5th or 6th gear.

I agree there are 3rd gen owners with legitimate complaints. And if any member feels obligated to post their annoyance in every thread, ad nauseum, so be it. It does get tiresome though, since my truck is acceptable to me.
Seems like @Masterofnone had to bear the brunt of defending his point of view in this thread, as some of his colleagues got outta Dodge when it got too hot, oh well.
Props to him for slugging it out alone. It is a forum after all, and we all get our money's worth from TW!
