That RR 747 (N787RR) lives in Tucson these days doing the composite fan blade testing for the RR 787 program. See it everytime I take off :)

Ha! Ya I've been in the pattern with that thing as well.. wake turbulence much?

Where are you controlling at? I was Army ATC in a former life and got an elusive radar approach control rating at Ft Huachuca before I got out... got out with horrible timing I might add as the FAA back then was in hiring freeze mode... so my dream of being a CPC went away

Ya was a bitch but found my other calling and have been doing it for 13 years now...

Never got a CTO... Started at Hood (F 1/58th) in the ANTSW-7A, went to Korea and worked at Guardian Control and then to Huachuca in approach... all between 99-04. My unit at Hood fielded the TAIS with 4ID in the early 2000s... man it was such a piece of shit back than :D

I've not yet flown on an aircraft with the geared turbofans. Can you tell any difference? Supposed to be way more quiet.

Yes, it's a pretty new design on the motor. Been some problems with them at start up. LH started using the 320neo with them early last year.

I didn't notice a difference honestly, I was too busy being pissed that our flight kept getting delayed and worried I was going to miss my train
