Since around 2006 (11 years ago!) the Tijuana plant has been assembling 50,000 double cab Tacomas a year, so about half of San Antonio's Tacoma output.

Do you need to know, or care?
Nope, 4 cyl was the block with the problem. Mine blew crossing a bridge, it was a sight to see.

    Headline from the past...

    Published: January 24, 1990

DETROIT, Jan. 23— The General Motors Corporation will recall 244,000 four-cylinder Pontiac Fieros -every one ever made - because of a nagging engine-fire problem that contributed to the company's decision to stop making the two-seater.

Not to make fun, but I would not trust the factory to torque and get things right either. Hence the bearing problem.

I hope they fix this in the way you see fit. Don't push them to get it done. Hopfuly it takes them 31 days to fix it.

Weird kinda like what I told you... The payment you can push for after your truck has been in the shop for awhile.

You can ask for a truck just have to say you'll need the bed space. I always do this.

Seems like a reasonable deal. 8 yr / 125k is more than enough time for any installation-related problems to show. A warranty like this purchased as ECP would be priced at what, $2000?

What is the actual work being done? Is the dealer replacing the short block or long block?

Maybe they have a Camry on the lot or a Sienna, they can just cannibalize one of those to get your Tacoma back on the road stat!

I doubt they are giving him a fully dressed engine, seems like he will get a refurbished short block.

I would hope they wouldn't screw around at this point and just ship him a factory fresh engine.

True. I just liked the way my 2013 drove vs. my 2016. Just an opinion thing really.

fair, it does sound like the 2nd gen was a more likable engine. I went from my 09 4 banger to 17 v6, I miss my old truck, but not because I dislike my 17.

OP's engine was the 2.7, same as in the 2nd gens prior. Leave our Camry engines out of it.

if you purchase a Twix bar and as you open it you find a worm in the left finger would you be OK if Walmart replace just the left finger for you or you would want them to give you a new bar with the wrapper still on it!
think about this! note: you only spent 1$ on this and you would be pitching a fit not 40K
