Good to hear Lee, what trails did you run it on? Mod day for the Taco!

I got ya, if you think you could use it I can bring it to Jambo. Just looking to clear a little space. I got it from the Southwest Wheel Company up there in Dallas.

It might work with it, depends on the backspacing of the rims you want to use. I honestly think it might be to narrow. It would work if the outter width is 4ft.

I'm gonna probably use the factory rims so it probably won't work.

Hey I don't mean to break up the conversation but I just stumbled into this thread, and I'm really surprised there's an active group for SETX. Do ya'll meet up and ride every so often?

    Hi @Cupcake34
We are certainly active, but most of our offroading requires driving a few hours to find some good terrain. We do the occassional 87 Run down the beach, but the real fun is typically heading towards mountains or big hills :)

    1. [2] Linda Gail (And did the obstacle that killed Warren's truck). Crawled right up it slowly.
    2. [2] On Any Sunday
    3. [2] Louisiana Backroads (tricky at the end)
    4. [2] Solihull
    5. [3] Clyde's Ravine
    6. [3.5] Spider Ravine (some of it)
    7. [3] Greenlane

With it I'm totally comfortable on 2's now, and cautious on 3's. Before I was really kinda scared of 3's.

Outstanding. I made the 87 run Saturday night with a couple of jeeps but we were trying to get through before the tide moved back in. Word is they're going to put the highway back in in the next few years. I'd be way into doing some backroads and trail stuff. How do I get in the loop?

Just keep an eye on this thread. Even if you set this thread to "watched" it sometimes doesn't update me when I get to the site. So I just check in on it, as someone is usually talking around here.

Where you located? I'm in Orange.

Bridge City, work in Port Neches. Pretty sure I've seen your truck in Beaumont. Do you have a topper?

I don't, I had a bed cover but recently sold it. Got a lot of family in Bridge City though, so I'm there occasionally.

Oh, btw, you planning any mods for the truck? We are always curious to see what people have going on. This your first off road, or just first Tacoma?

First taco. I've had full size 4x4 before. I'll keep it cheap, most likely. It's pretty capable already. 32s and a winch first, and I'll go from there.

Yeah it's the only pic I have right now. I don't have any cool wheeling pics so I had to improvise. The taco pulls that boat OK but it definitely gets blown around on the highway.

I've had 3 Tacomas, a 4Runner and a 1500 Silverado. Towing boats, travel trailers, and small utility trailers.

The Silverado was unquestionably better than any other regarding that.

3rd Gen did the next best, but it's a good margin.
4Runner is close to 3rd Gen.

    2nd Gens did the worst.

But all Taco and 4Runners are smaller wheelbase, narrower, and shorter. They won't pull like a full size, but once you come wheel with us you'll see why those smaller rigs are so good off road. You won't find any full size trucks where we go usually.
