Don't ever visit my house. We've already talked about our previous owners. Stuff I haven't mentioned is thread tape on compression fittings, different types or missing screws on hinges, wiring twisted together and not even wire nutted, pellet stove that was vented into the framed chimney space, and when he tiled the kitchen he laid the spacing crosses flat at the corners instead of sticking up...and then grouted over some of them!

Lying in Bed with biggest face/palm for grouting over spacers!!

I totally get it. We've had the same shitshow here. Nails where screws should be and vice versa. The sketchiest electric I've ever seen in our shed-that I'm about to demolish (so bad I'm having our electrician look at it before I proceed!)
Random screws and nails everywhere. Screws in the carport gutter. I have no idea how they got there or even how long they've been there.
There's a 1" PVC pipe coming out of the hillside below the house. I have no idea what flows from it.
But I now have a turkey that visits daily. Even tolerates me sitting on the porch with my coffee.

mismatched screws doesnt really matter to me until you have to remove it and theres a flat tip screw, crosstip, and a square tip tool you need and you have every size BUT the one that the hardware is installed with...I had to take down a light that had square bit screws installed and I had to go to the store to get a specific bit:annoyed:

I'm also a consistency nerd when it comes to using the same screws/hardware/etc, ...but what really gets me, "for example", is when the previous owner lets his kids "help" paint a bathroom and bedroom, ..leaving nice random drip "textures" all across the walls in various weird colors... skim coating/sanding painted walls is something I learned I really don't like having to do!

A friend just purchased a 7 figure, 6 year old house in Indiana and it failed the electrical inspection. Breakers missing and jumpers put in. Some GFI's missing in the bathrooms, etc. Unbelievable....
I think shitty workmanship is not just an older house thing...

Got around to a project we've been planning for years..
At work we get lots of pallets everyday. Hate seeing them go to waste so we either burn them or turn them into stuff.. lol
This was our weekend project before, during and after.

Other pallet projects around the house have been kitchen table:

Good idea with the old window.
I too like to turn old windows into art!
Some of these windows were torn out of our house, I put my photography in them.

Thank you! Feels like a theatre now. I found it really helped with the acoustics too.

Pouring our last column today that bridges over our service trench so we can get all our steel posts welded in place at once

I'm assuming you'll pull the wood bridge form section after the pour? When we do pours like that here we'll use foam over the utilities so we don't have to remove it and it cushions the utilities. We'd also call it a grade beam. If you can't tell I love construction. I've been involved in it for 31 years.

One project I'm involved in. 1,000 foot tunnel.
