I personally never text much less youtube while driving. I do talk on the phone using the built in hands free, and let the head-unit read texts to me.

That doesn't mean I'm not comfortable handing over control of driving to a computer. I am. And once I am no longer in control of the vehicle in an active sense, I will find something else to do. Based on how I have filled the extra time in the rest of my life, the Internet seems the likely place I'll visit while waiting to get where I am going. Little different than riding the mass-transit train (TRE/DART here).

I personally despise the idea of self driving cars, hate them with an absolute passion. If you do not like driving, take a Taxi, get on a bus, or call Uber.

Buy what you want so you don't buy it twice.

Everything has its quirks. Just spend some time with it and make it your own.

The 2018s will start production in August this year. 1 or 2 weeks to deliver from Mejico and San Antonio. You can be in a 2018 in September. But it'll probably still come with an underfilled transmission and the other quirks too. If you want a truck and afraid of the issues then maybe consider a 2015 Tacoma instead.

My 2005 hasn't had an issue to date. The appeal of a new truck is strong, but I can be patient. I've been watching these forums.. I think I'll be able to get past all of the common complaints, if I were pull the trigger. One of the main reason's I'm waiting.. We bought my wife a 2016 Rav4. The Navigation/phone integration is useless. I hope they address it in 2018, however, since they didn't in the 18 Camry, I'm thinking it's probably around another year. Making me hang onto my 2nd gen a little longer.

2018 Tacoma will be arriving in Aug/or September. You can either wait for the 2018 or get a possible good deal on a 2017 when the 2018 hits the lot. Good position to be in :)

I'd say get a 4runner or a Tundra if you want a Toyota truck. I seriously regret getting my Tacoma. I'm waiting till my payoff is lower and we buy our new house in a couple months then I'm getting rid of it.

Oh come on smitty99 my wife's 2015 Honda CRV Touring has what I call the text while you drive safety feature. It is called LKAS you can let it steer for you as long as the camera can see lines on the road (up to 20-30 seconds I believe as I haven't tested it nor want to).

Can't you appreciate that? Don't you want to send that text while going through a turn at highway speeds?

I have had most of the issues everyone has had. Crappy shifting even after update, bad body mount bushings, truck jerks sometimes coming to a stop, howling diff. I've only had the truck 5 months 15k miles all freeway. I shouldn't be having all these issues with a new truck.I don't enjoy driving it.

It sucks I was really looking forward to finally getting my Tacoma back after almost a five year wait (I sold my 07 when my wife stopped working after our son was born to eliminate debts). And this is what I get. A truck I ultimately don't trust.

That sucks Bro, sorry to hear that, hopefully the issues get worked out to where you can enjoy it.
