Solutions for dash rattling?

I'm planning on keeping my 1gen till the wheels fall off. Wondering if anyone has ever come up with a solution to the dash rattling? I stuffed some paper towels between the window and dash and it worked for awhile. I liked to come up with a more permanent solution. I'm considering on taking the dash completely apart and maybe some screws/bolts/clips need some tightening/replacing?
Anyone ever do this?

 

If you do some searching around you'll find a thread that has details on how to take the glove box and the passenger side airbag out. Then run a couple big zip ties around the metal airbag frame to the metal frame on the bottom side of the dash. Zip the tie down and watch the top of the dash pad. It'll move downwards and pulls the dash pad against the heater ducts at the windshield. More than likely that's where your noise is coming from. That's where mine was coming from and it drove me nuts. I did the above and no more noises now for close to a year.

I kinda figured it was the heater ducts in mine. I may remove and refoam them because I had a big chunk of foam blow into my girlfriends face while she was riding shotgun lol

 

I'll do that to. Anything I can do to make it stop. There's nothing that makes me want to sell my truck...en im driving 8 hours to work except when the rattling starts. Its like drops of water slowly dripping on my forehead!

 

Use backer rod between your dash and windshield.

 

Or... turn up the volume

I was gonna say this because it is exactly what i do

 

I used this stuff but smaller diameter. You can find it at Home Depot or Lowe's works great.

 

I originally used the poly foam also but it eventually started rattling again once the foam settled and I finally had to dig into it and glad I did.

1/4" rubber fuel hose from auto parts store.

 

If you're gonna take the dash out, which isn't very difficult. Take some double sided foam tape and line where all the vents meet the dash, where the dash meets the windshield, and take off the airbag cover and line where that meets the dash as well. Toyota had a felt kit at some point that could be installed on our trucks. Not sure what ever happened to that. I would suggest while your in there sound deadening the whole inside of the dash to help with the rattling and just overall noise that would come up through the firewall.
