The Fab is going to be a headache for sure, but it's been almost a year in getting the motor rebuilt. Currently we are having to return the pistons after the motor was bored for them because no makes rings for the 00-04 pistons. Ours have been on order with Toyota for 9months and they keep saying it will be 3month to 2years before they produce another batch.

This is all because my wife wanted her first truck to become a Long Travel V8 4wd.

Fuck that, those motors are plenty and cheap. Get a different one in better shape!

Or... you know who makes a 4x4 long travel V8 from the factory....

I did find a 2002 4.7 tundra with automatic. Dont know if it runs. Rad and air intake damaged. Would this be less headaches for me?

Probably about the same so I'd opt for the V8 if I were you. Might be hard to fit in your engine bay tho but so would the 4.0

If I could have talked her out of 4wd, there'd be an LS6 in it. Or if I could have talked her into solid axles it would have a 1UZ or 2JZ in it. Still frustrated I had to scrap a free 1UZ because we were moving.

I hear that mod can be really expensive.

If you're keeping it manual transmission, then probably.
