tool marks would be left on the older mounting hardware though showing it was moved.

They aren't Dick Tracy. I doubt they are going to bust out microscopes and inspect the crystalline structure of the bolt to confirm that it hasn't ever had a wreck on it since it left the factory. Plus there are tool marks on it when it's new.

They would probably have a bigger issue with you installing larger tires since it puts more stress on the entire drivetrain.

It doesn't shift when 1 bolt is removed. There are 3 more securing it in place.

Mine shifted as I was replacing bolts.

But as @jowybyo said, we aren't dealing with dick tracy. Tool marks are one thing (how they'd prove you made those marks I have no idea) but they aren't going to get some calipers out and say on hey it looks like the transmission is 1mm lower than factory spec (which I highly doubt there is one). I can guarantee every Tacoma transmission isn't sitting at the exact same height.

If you are that worried about this stuff and your warranty I'd suggest you hold on mods until your warranty is over. :D

unless I read the instructions wrong, don't you need to replace all 4? I get take one out put new one in but before they are all tightened doesn't it just rest on the bolts and not actually held in place with them tight?

When you finally replace the last bolt ya it's just resting on them before the nuts are finally tightened. However the weight of the driveline keep some of the bolts tight. Mine didn't move and even if it did, 1mm isn't going to make a difference.

I keep forgetting you are in Canada. I think you will be ok if you did it yourself but you gotta do you, so if taking it to a dealer gives you piece of mind and assurance with the warranty then go for it!

I've had set of 3 skids installed for about 6 months, now.

There is a strangle rattling noise when the truck is up to temperature and idling. The exhaust isn't touching the skids anywhere.

Also, I used blue loctite on all the hardware. Do you suggest tightening all the hardware after a while? What torque specs do you recommend?

Didnt your hardware come with locknuts and lock washers? You should be good to go on that, I tightened mine as hard as I could by hand.

As far as rattling i cant help, could it be something silly like a loose rock sitting in them?

I'm happy. Mine went on fine, doing it solo with no jack was a pain but the skids are on and other than a little soreness in odd places from holding the skids in place while tightening its all goodness. :)

Nope. Once I figured out you had to remove a couple of braces it was just fitting it all together. Pretty straight forward.

I had already figured out from an earlier post that i needed to remove the braces. Once I found the instructions, I did read them just to make sure I did not miss anything.

    Great products, they fit great.
