When I was shopping for my Taco I scoped out the specifications on Toyota's website. For the TRD OR DCSB 4x4 Toyota shows a curb weight of 4425 lbs, and a GVWR of 5600, so a cargo carrying capacity of 1175 lbs. My Taco was delivered with door stickers indicating a CCC of just 998 lbs on a 5600 lb GVWR, so it would appear that my options added 177 lbs to the advertised curb weight. I did get the P&T, so the moonroof and tonneau would have added weight, but I wouldn't have thought they'd be that heavy. Just seems a little off having a pickup truck with a sub 1/2 ton CCC. Anyone else noticed similar numbers on their door sticker?

My truck has a yellow sticker on the door jamb saying the capacity of the truck has been reduced by 3KG or 1# due to modifications.

You should get on a scale with a full tank of fuel and really find out what you weigh in at. The payload on these heavier models is pretty disappointing. At least youre not a loaded OR or sport long bed.

If you're concerned that you have a payload rating lowered by an average sized human male, you probably shouldn't be in a half-ton truck in the first place.

I did. 4780 with full fluids, my mods (which include driveshaft disconnect and flat towing baseplate), and the usual stuff I carry in the truck, but no driver. Which means that with me in the truck, but no other passengers, my CCC is really just 610 lbs.

Mine has a similar sticker to the tune of 2 lbs for the dealer added exhaust tip.

I'm concerned that the Tacoma can only slightly beat the Frontier in payload. And it's hundreds of pounds behind the GMs and Honda. That's why I said it's disappointing, which it is. A DCLB TROR 4x4 has the same GVWR as a 2.7L AC 2wd manual. That's a joke.

Bro... it's a 1/2 ton pickup.. you can haul at LEAST a 1/2 ton of shit and add people after... it's not a big truck so stuffing 1/2 ton of shit in a 5' bed actually isn't that easy, unless crushed stone.

This is how I ride pretty much all winter. 800# in the bed, another 100# of gear in the cab, + 1 or two passengers.

The only mods I have made are sumosprings in the back and Blizzak winter tires. It handles like it's not loaded for the most part, I'm just extra careful to slow down for turns. In fact now that I put the sled into storage for the summer I kind of think the Taco handles better loaded up.

I have even had to do an emergency stop from around 40 for a deer in the road with this setup, no problems except my underwear.

I hauled 30 boxes of wood flooring, each weighing just about 40lbs right on the nose (1200lbs), two people (320), a german shepherd (60), and 50lbs of random shit along with my 250lb topper. I had my tires at about 36psi and didn't have any issues over speed bumps or anything else. Don't let a pesky warning sticker tell you how to live your life; if you're not bottoming out, you're clear. The rake you get lets other drivers know "That guy works".

the magic word here is Sumosprings. if it wasn't for the sag it could easily handle a much heavier load. so, Sumosprings! (they saved my a$$ yesterday hauling a ton of crap).

Tacoma is a 1/4 ton truck. F150, tundra and 1500's are 1/2 ton. It has less to do with payload nowdays and is instead just a way to define class levels of trucks to compare them.

To contribute to the topic: I have 5lbs off gvwr with bed hooks, cleats and Jbl, no cover though so I guess they're that heavy unless you also have running boards/steps
