Mt Shasta or Rainer, and extended or not? Two medium sized people generally, but the 56in width of the shasta seems small. Looking at the specs the shasta is roughly a Full size mattress and the Rainer is closer to a King size which seems like overkill... can anyone confirm or help decide which size to get? And is the extended part that useful unless its raining?
    Thanks Jared

My RTT (not a CVT) is 56" wide and two adults will be comfortable. Anymore than that and it'll start to feel tight.

Mine doesn't have the vestibule (extension) and I wish it did...one night in the rain and you'll wish for it. You won't get soaked because there is some coverage, but nothing like entering the tent from the bottom instead of the side.

@Cascadia Tents any further information on group shipment (Oahu HI). were only one week out from open ordering (17th)
How it would work? possible price quote? Residential vs. Commercial location? Time frame for a shipment to make it to Hawaii?

can PM if you like. Mahalo

Exactly what I wanted to hear, extended it is and sounds like I could get away with the smaller one!

If you can manage with two single sleeping bags side by side, you'll be fine with the 56" because that's pretty much the space you'll be working with. Trying to use the sleeping bags as an idea of "real world" scale for you.

Don't go off the size of your rig dude... do a bit of research.
Think about where you will be using it
how many people will be with you
Think about the future, do not think about now
these things are pricey to just jump the gun and get a tiny little tent
Then regret it within a few years wanting something way bigger.

I am not thinking small so I was trying to figure size on my truck and how it would fit. (I want to fit two adults and two dogs or Two adults and two small kids.) Which means I'm looking at the Denali (extended). Just not sure how the fit will work and what else I have to buy.

I dig my little tent. Smallest RTT you can buy! haha.

I'll probably upgrade someday, but I got a good deal and my girlfriend and I fit just fine.

Okay guys Shasta stargazer extended vs the rainier stargazer extended is only $225 which in the whole big scheme is not a lot... I've decided to go with the larger one.

I'm In for the Mt Rainer Stargazer Extended in Grey, I'll also take the anti condensation mat too. Edit- and some patches.

Why does everybody always mount it with the steps off the side? Can it be mounted with it off the back? I want to add the annex and be able to access the bed from inside.

Is there a reason most people do it off the side?

The larger ones when folded are wider than your truck bed so thsts why they are rotated to the side.
