Ive seen a few in the wild, but they are sneaky...You've probably smelled them and not even known you are near one. Typically black bear dont mess with you unless they have babies. Ive shot one young 1.5 yr old bear. But I've had a hard time getting a bait site set up. Last year we had good success with bears coming in but it was a matter of timing or us not being on the bait we didnt see much. The neighbor lady did shoot a nice bear off the bait we had set up in the fall so overall it was a success but we had plenty of mistakes.

yup. we were camping up in Pisgah a while back off of a forest service road and some people that were driving by stopped and told us that there were a couple of bear cubs in that site next to us, so be careful. I went a looking and still didn't see them! I was pretty sad. now, I was definitely keeping my distance since I assume mama was somewhere close by. im surprised my dog didn't smell them or hear them.

I've seen one bear on my property and it was 2 or 3 years ago...nothing before & nothing since. Mississippi has a web site where bears are tagged & tracked. From what I could find the bear does a routine loop or path from around my place near Oxford to Greenville / Vicksburg area. It's a pretty good drive...many miles on foot. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera & because they're so rare here I doubt I'll see another.

Here's a few more turkeys in the yard from about 4/1/16...have seen none so far this year. The two are the same pic just blown up.

Regular season is open here now & until 5/1.

Nothing like hunting in 80+ degree weather...same with deer season here.:puke:

They've been running with hens for a while now in Ct., I think the weather a couple weeks back in the 60's and 70's messed with them.
Since then, we've had a blizzard and temps in the teens.
Season here starts last week of April. I have the first 2 weeks of May off, so hopefully I can slay a couple this year.
Last year was a bust for me as the week I had off was the most miserable, cold ,windy and rainy week. Not good for hunting them.

One thing I noticed over the years, when you get close to a bear, under the right conditions, they smell like dill pickles.
When I was deer hunting in Vermont, I used to work some thick cedar swamps and more than once I jumped bear in those places. Area smelled like a pickle barrel.lol.

The Osceolas here in south Florida always seem to start early. They'll start gobbling in mid February. My brother and his wife doubled up on some gobblers last weekend! IMG_7671.jpg

I heard a couple gobbles today but it was raining and I tried a hen call with no response. Little over a week and season opens here..

Opening season comes in on a Monday here in WV. The worst idea ever, I'll have to wait a whole week of the season before I'll get to see any action in the woods. I've saw/heard several nice toms so far tho! I'm pumped

Figures a nice big tom I saw earlier this morning across the field actually came causally strolling by with-in shooting range with 3 hens, I could have easily shot it but my wife would have thrown a fit. Not because of killing it but because she wants to kill a nice oneo_O And where do you think she is? Not here where she could have shot the stupid turkey:tumbleweed::infantry:

Out riding the 4 wheeler with my dogs this morning. Dogs acted like the turkey wasn't there & the turkey didn't really react like they typically do.

Unless you're starving and need the food why don't let wild creatures like that live their lives. Buy some food instead.

Yeah you could kill a turkey with a golf club, I wouldn't call killing one of the most defenceless birds in nature hunting. Show some pride man, go to a higher place and let that bird live in peace
