I found a 1 owner totally stock 2000 SR5 2.7 5 speed ex-cab with pw, pl, cc. Everything works according to owner. Very clean interior and exterior. Dealer serviced its whole life. 289K miles. Listed for $7500. Clean carfax and shows dealer services which include: clutch replaced at 233K. Plugs, wires, drive belt, brk pads, rotors replaced at 248K and Engine/powertrain computer/module checked at 288K.

I'm going to meet the guy and drive it tomorrow. He's bought an auto 09 Tacoma due to knee trouble. NADA book shows $7825 dealer retail. KBB shows $6100-$7200. It does have a matching camper shell(will likely sell). If it looks in as good of condition as the photos, I may not bring myself to talk him down a bit.

Do you see anything to run from? Comments, concerns? Shocks are potentially original(I see no record of replacement). Any concern about the rust on the shocks? Or the rust on the rear bumper?

Looks like some aftermarket shocks shall be in order once you own it. Everything looks pretty decent, not much rust from what i see!

That's a lot of cash for a vehicle with almost 300k miles. I'd offer $6500 MAX and replace the rear bumper and feel okay about it. Assuming it all drives well.

You have my truck's twin. Even the bumper rust. I bought a new bumper off Amazon for very reasonable price. But it's been 2 years ago. I wouldn't worry about the bumper as much as 7k for 300k miles. Still a clean truck but as stated before a lot of money for a lot of miles.

Looks pretty clean I would ask if he has ever had the ball joints replaced.

Damn I don't see many '95-'00 models with power doors. That was a rare option. They're more common on the '01-'04 years.

I was tickled to see the pw and plk too. I do kind of wish it had manual hubs but I haven't read about too many problems with ADD. I'm really impressed with these trucks. The last truck I looked at had 260K on it and it literally drove perfect. I've driven vehicles with 80-100K that seemed fit for junkyard.

I see the bumper on Amazon and they look good with good reviews. Thanks for the the info.

I'll certainly ask about the ball joints. He said all work was done at dealership(his wife works there) and I can get a printout of everything.

Looks like KBB dealer trade in is ~$5500. I plan to bring that up and offer $6500 with is right in between trade in and retail.

Also, truck has 4.30 rear end and 265/75r15's. Does this come out to the same ratio as 3.91 with 225/75r15?

I came across a local rig same thing mileage and all the option but the rare what I call step side bed and they were asking the same for it. I told them 4500 is the highest and I ended up walking.

I get maybe 2-3 mpg less with the v6 and that's with a 6 inch fabtech lift :(

I agree maybe 130k that price would be okay

That one looks good, like others have mentioned it's going to need some stuff, how much I don't know. Prob. shocks and maybe springs.

In '07 I was finding under 100K mile tacos all day long for under 10K.
I guess it's because of the price of new trucks everybody is going crazy on old prices.
I was told mine was 21K out the door new. I paid 8500 in '07 w/ 75K miles.
It needed shocks and springs even then.

Especially knowing that the frame WILL need attention paid to it.
It looks fine now. You'll have to do something to keep it that way.

I must live in the wrong region. I've been on the lookout for quite a while and 130K miles on a 2000-2004 around is $10-$12K. This seems to be true within 200 mile range.

if you have the money and want one.....go for it.

Just keep in mind these trucks are old. We're all (except Cal and AZ.) going to be fighting rust.

I like that truck, it's what I'd look for in every way.

The old guy knows what it's worth...unfortunately because I'd never pay that much for a high mile, old truck unless it was destined to be a collectible.

trucks are HARD to predict in that area.

FJ40's were bought in the '70s because (buyers I knew) said they were going to hold their value. They did.
Except the ones that rusted away, those took a LOT of restoring.

remember the saying about restoration. "What's the best way to get a 50K dollar muscle car?" -"Spend 100K on it."

Yeah around here you can find them for that price all day long but to me that's a lot of money , 2017 Tacoma 4x4 AC 6speed is somthing like $23k give or take I mean shit that's half of the truck you pay that truck off you can go buy anything you want with good credit I see it in many different ways I paid half o what your looking to spend on the silver stepside with 181k it dose have rust but it's manageable also California toyotas go for an incredible amount of money
