I went with black to contrast with the QS base color (looking to only have black and tan theme). Hard to say about red with the black, it would definitely pop especially if you have other red accents, plus tail lights are red.

My accents are ABS attached with double sided tape so they are pretty much flush with the rest of the tailgate surface. I didn't want anything that stuck out too far and overpowered. No leaking from the accents I have that I've ever noticed.

Not the best pic but should give some idea... I like the Tacoma accents (when not chrome).

 

And thats my conundrum ... I'd entertain an insert, but i think its the hardest to do on black

Definitely hardest with black. Any other color I would've just got black inserts and black decals.

I couldn't do them. I think the stamped tailgate is one of the coolest things Toyota has added and those would take away from that for me.

I think it sucks some of these regions stick shit on a truck and force you to pay for stuff you might not want. Greedy fucks.

 

Those are Bushwacker fender flares. You can order them online from lots of places.

 

I can do the inserts in a dark gray so its still stealthy but looks dope

 

I have the same inserts on mine. I like them and the water can be cleaned up pretty good with a hand towel after you wash it

 

Got a photoshop mock up of what that might look like? It would be such a fine line of contrast, wondering if a texture would help

Where in AZ did you buy? I picked mine up from Big Two in Chandler and they include them on all of their Tacomas. They give you the choice of Chrome, Matte Black, or White i think. They're the nice 3D stick on "emblems" like you're talking about - not the flat ones. Salesman said they normally lump them in under the door edge guards, paint protection film, and dealer prep charge, which is about $200 I think? Made them take the charge off my invoice but they still gave me the letters and edge guards as apparently that's how they prep all of their tacos. Have seen a lot of other Tacomas in the valley with the same badging, so not sure if other dealers do it as well.

 

Found them, bout 100 bucks on Amazon.
