Stop bashing the dude. You gave him advice, others gave advice.
He can listen to it or not, but stop bashing him.
Because you are throwing out info as if it is "Factual", I am going to throw in actual facts, instead of blanket statements.

The amount of money spent on a system does not determine if it is considered a "SQ" system, neither does 3 way or 2 way.
Running passive or active doesn't determine what a SQ system is either.
MECA world champion 2015 runs Analog.
MECA CA State champion 2016 runs analog.
I've scored in the 80s running analog.
I can keep going on the number of competitors who compete with an analog source, again, this isn't something that determines what an SQ build is.
Rear fill actually will make your stage feel deeper, and wider if tuned correctly (This is key, as I agree that rear fill, if not tuned correctly, will sound poor). Door placement for rear fill is not optimal. 2014 and 2015 MECA world champions ran rear fill.
And your statement about speaker placement is just silly.

OP - You made a lot of good choices in the build. As long as you are happy with it, that is great.
I do agree, if you can find someone to tune for you, that would be great, but I am not aware of any great tuners in Canada.
There is a lot of info on tuning over at diyma.com, I recommend you do a little reading there.
You can get your system quite far by simply setting your levels, crossovers, and time alignment.
You can invest in a 20.00 mic from Dayton that you can plug into a cell phone and use an app as an RTA.

Good luck, and I will be looking for an update.

Dude who's bashing the dude? He titles his thread "Audiophile Build" and then clearly builds a system that does not meet the definition of an "Audiophile Build". At least not how I would define it, and that is all I said. I am still waiting for your actual facts dude. Other than it's apparent that you can read car audio magazine there is nothing you are saying that is even close to an actual fact. The fact is very few, VERY FEW, competitors compete with analog sources, and the list you could tabulate would be five times longer on the digital side. The "fact" is a SQ build starts and centers around having as clean a source signal as possible, and that is done digitally now a days. So yes I equate SQ with digital, and Analog as yesterday's news. Where you really lost me is where you try to somehow defend rear fill as part of a SQ build. Sure you can find people doing it, but nobody who knows what they are doing adds a rear stage. Saying "so and so who won this or that", does not prove the argument. That is not a "fact". Who cares. Their are competitions all over the place every single day, and the majority of the competitors don't run rear fill drivers or analog source units. I won't even get into the nonsense about speaker placement.

The fact is you will find people doing all kinds of different stuff, and some of them will go against the norm and be successful. Case in point, I build all of my systems without any sound deadener, and I have one several competitions doing it that way. It's not the norm, and most folks would say you can't build a SQ system unless you deaden the system. I do, and have, but only because I put all of my dollars in input and output and nowhere else. And when it comes to the dollars, you are wrong. Fact is you get what you pay for. Cheap component systems may sound great, but they don't hold up to good quality high end components, and those cost money. To come out and tout a set of $200 drivers, and say they compare to a $1500 set of drivers is just nonsense. There is certainly a market for mid range if you want mid range results. What is worth repeating is "You get what you pay for".

Happy to link you competition results from emma, iasca and Meca with analog sources.

Happy to link you 200 dollar drivers that will perform better than a set of 1000 dollar drivers.

It just sounds like you lack enough knowledge and experience to comprehend what was posted. But again, happy to walk you through it all in a PM.

    LET THE OP ENJOY.

Again who cares? "So and so won x y or z", does not prove a thing. That is not a "FACT". It's a big so what. The OP built a nice system. It's not a "Audiophile Build", but its a solid system. End of story. I'm sure he is happy, because the system I have now is almost identical to what he built. Would I compete with my system now? Oh hell no, but its clean and for what I spent on it it's a solid system. I think I will jump out of this as I have made my point, and I am not really sure what yours is other than to show everybody how smart you are? On that point I will concede as the internet is full of "experts".

Sorry man, but this disqualifies anything else you say - even though most of what you say is at least a bit out there.

Out of curiosity, which competitions did you win? Were there any other competitors?

True - kinda forgot that this is a build log. My bad OP.

That said, how's the build coming along?

oh man so much this and that here... but since this is a build log, let the man do what he wants.
I really don't give advice anymore unless its paid advice as 99% if falls on deaf ears. I spend about 1/2 the time trying to undo what other " experts " say and do. I have 200$ SQ mids, yes thats right, and they spank allot of mids 3x their retail price. One just has to know what to look for and pay for exactly that.

Awesome Link. Andy is as good as it gets at breaking down complex audio concepts.

Rear fill is not my favourite and takes allot of time to get dialled in if your serious about your front stage. Takes allot of time and patients as well as needing an active processor to truly complement a well built front stage.

I think its out of reach for 95% of people

How did the fitment of the mids and tweets end up? I am considering this exact same front staging when I realized that I could possible fit a mod in factory tweeter location.

Exactly what I'm wondering. I have access to some really nice 3 ways that one can run active off a 6 channel and get some damn nice sound out. Sadly I have a 07 and not to many members around in my area for a test fit !

Hate to dig up such an old post, but this was so fun to read and follow. Was there a finished post to this with pics?
