yikes, what happened again? IF it is hooked up backwards for an extended period of time it may pop the diodes, but unlikely. That is really strange, i have had mine hooked up for months, with no such issue. The fact that it took out the AC lights as well is interesting. Keep me updated as to your progress. The circuit i built pulls about 1.9amps, not sure what the fuse is for the dash light circuit.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
"The fundamental property of a diode is its tendency to conduct electric current in only one direction."

One definition of a diode - An electronic device that restricts current flow chiefly to one direction.

I am anxious to see what happened. I would look into the wire taps as they were to large for that gauge wire. When I was making mine I was hooking it up backward and with the wrong resistance. Backward, they won't light. I don't believe that there is enough current to fry them if hooked up wrong. And without enough resistance it would fry the LED. We know that rcbs204 is an EE and did extensive testing so I can't believe the resistance would be wrong. Also your lights went out in the dash. I hope you figure it out quickly.

I have asked him to call me personally, here is what i think happened, i added a current limiting resistor before shipping and there was ten or so that made it out without a little piece of heat shrink on one end, I think when the switch cover was re-installed it shorted out the power and ground. That's my theory/guess. I will keep all updated, as i have a serious vested interest in remedying this quickly.

Ok, so i just went out and shorted out the two wires that we are using for this project. It blew the 10 amp fuse called "Tail" located in the covey by the hood latch. However it also took out the entire dash lights as well, that includes guages and all. So i don't think Jhodge83 has a dead short, otherwise he would have no lights at all. It's something marginal.

i just installed mine and it looks great. i also did another lighting mod while i was at it so it took a bit longer.

thanks, rcbs204, for doing this for us !

    Jhodge83,
Here is another theory, i think when you used the wire taps, it was actually the wrong gauge and it actually ended up cutting one of the two wires. Did you pull firmly on the wires coming out of the ends of the T-taps. I bet if you do, the wires may just come apart. That really is the only explination as to why just the 4x4 led's and the AC would only go out and not the rest of the dash lights.
