I was talking about the driver seal installers, the other side of the tool equation for the bushing install:)

My truck at 20k miles seems to have this problem and FWIW, it's not lifted and never will be. I only noticed it after having the drive line vibration TSB done which did fix that problem. I ordered the bushing to have on hand when time for the replacement becomes available. I suspect ECGS is making a killing off these bushings as comparable bushings of the same material/similar size. can be bought for $5 or $6.

I don't exactly remember, you have to slide it in side ways and then flip it flat, and then screw the bolt into it. I had to keep rounding the edges till it was able to flip inside the housing.

    It went pretty quick.

I imagine ECGS would like it better if Toyota contracted out to them to produce the TSB Rev 1 Field fix for the said "POS Needle Bearing".

It's not uncommon to have it fail on a factory truck. I think you're doing the right thing based on my own experience so far (which has very few miles) it really eliminated the noise and vibes for me. To isolate the issue did you try putting in 4-Hi to see if it goes away?

Yes had to use grinder to slightly chamfer the edges of the removal tool as I think I've heard others here remark, it's certainly not an instrument of fine precision and vastly overpriced.

Yes. It took me some time to get enough comparisons to be sure this was definitely the issue since my vibrations are pretty minor. I need to be on a smooth road and at about 40mph seems to reveal the vibration most notably but switching to 4-hi gets rid of it.

FedEx just dropped my bushing off. Being an industrial mechanic and slightly more than a half assed fabricator it really hurts my pride having to buy a 60 dollar tool that I could have made out of some scrap steel. Unfortunately when it comes to work on stuff I own (especially a new truck)I get nervous and I'm willing to take every precaution and play it safe.

No it's the Harbor Freight seal/ bearing race setting tool. Fits the bushing perfect! I think I got it for under $30 as an impulse by, and I've been finding new uses for it all the time.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
Can you tell me what all you've used it for. this is the tool i was wondering about before that i can't see any benefit of.

As promised the measurement you requested 40.61mm

I measured it several times and different ways, nothing below 40.60

Damn, i went under the truck just now and just for the hell of it tried to shake the drivers side CV and WOW does it have alot of play in it. Luckily the bushing is in the mail!

Thanks. If I can't get a 2nd hand one or a loaner, etc... I'll make my own.

The thickness was about 2.6mm but it was tough to get a super accurate measurement on that.

It will eventually eat up your cv axle. Then you'll be replacing that along with the bearing.

Pressing in bushings and stuff, I always have some type of project going, and the different sizes come in handy for things, can't really think of one great use though. I've had them for over two years and for me they were worth the ~$30.
