20170408_200001.jpg That shitty moment when all you have left to do is drill 2 holes to mount your resi holders... and your 7 year old cordless drill bursts into flames and starts melting... Sent the wife to Walmart to pickup a cheapo corded drill so I can finish this thing up! I also had to reuse one old U bolt on my AAL. The chrome or whatever coating they put on them is JACKED up on one of the new U bolts. No way in hell anything was ever going to thread on that thing. The old one had over an inch of thread left after I tightend it down so I'm not worried about it. They are brand new from when I got my TSB done. I also need to bum a grinder from a co worker to make the notch in the shock mount. But that won't take but a second.

Done! Rides is amazing, I'm very, very pleased with the setup. I didn't purchase upper control arms but I propably will. It still drives and handles great and with an alignment I'm sure it will be even better. It doesn't dart and wander like my 2008 did after I lifted it with 5100's. I have about a 3/4" Taco lean that I need to address. I think I will lower the passenger side instead of raising the drivers side. Overall very simple install with no issues aside from the drill croaking. A helpful hint, install the rear top hat bolt before the front two. It will make life alot easier. It took 15 minutes to get them all in on the first side because I couldn't get the back one lined up. Did the back one first on the other side and was done bolting the top in within 5 minutes. Super easy.

i am a fan of the view from your garage. The view of no houses or anything. The wife and I are talking about moving to KY she has a very good job offer up there.

I love it here, I really like Alabama as well! I was tempted a year or so ago with a job in the Huntsville area and was pretty much ready to take the plunge but out of the blue the same position opened up here and I took it.

redneck pinstriping, various stickers, not 1 but 2 glade air fresheners because I fart a lot.
What rear shocks are those? I'm torn on whether to to VS 2.0 which I have or King 2.5 smooth body with a relo kit.

Icon 2.0 RR. I "someday" want to do the Chevy 63 swap but for the time being I went with these. They ride great paired with the Icon AAL, very happy with my decision. I initially was going to get 5100s for the rear instead but I got trigger happy and bought these.

I also went ahead and adjusted everything this morning. I ended up at 23" on the driver side and 23 1/4 on the passenger side. I tried to get them exact but after jacking the truck up 6 times I called it good enough. I will revisit it one day and try again after a few hundred miles. I ended up with 2.75/2.5" of lift over stock.

You mind posting how much thread is showing for each side? 2.75/2.5 is exactly where I want to be.

I'm not 100% confident this will be the "final" adjustment. I still see how 3/4" is giving my 2 3/4" of lift on that side... but time will tell. I'm gonna drive it the rest of this week and see where I am Saturday. I will say visually the truck looks very level but I'm sure the springs will break in some more and settle more.

The distance of the threads (aka: how much lift you add at the shock) doesn't directly correlate to the amount of suspension lift because the control arms don't sit parallel to the ground. As you add more height the angle of the control arms increases throwing the difference off even further. The only way to be sure how much lift you're getting is to measure center of wheel hub to tire well. It can even be different between the two sides because the driver side is heavier and it will settle more over time for the same reason.

Yep. I still find it odd though that I'm getting 2-3/4" of lift (hub to fender compared to pre lift numbers) on the side with only 3/4" of thread showing and the other side is 2-1/2" higher than stock with 1-3/4" of thread showing. Is that common?

That does seem like a big ass difference. I'm guessing the side with more threads and less actual lift is the driver's side?

My personal experience is with the toytec ultimate lift kit threaded coilovers= Bilstein 5100's and eibach springs. I put that lift on my '96 access cab and on this truck when I got it. One thing I found was that driving over speed bumps helps to set the shocks to their true ride height. So when making adjustments to set the ride height I wanted I'd go drive around a park parking lot. After you hit a few speed bumps you may notice that you're sitting lower than when you first adjusted them. I'd recommend hitting a dozen or so and driving around town for a couple hundred miles before getting an alignment. The weight of the truck alone doesn't seem to be enough to fully set them, you have to make them compress multiple times to see where they're really at.
