I have stock firestones on mine and they suck too (but I'm too broke/stingy for new kicks). About a year ago, I got stuck trying to get a broke down yard tractor (from a lady from church no less) onto my trailer to take it to get worked on. Didn't help we had had a torrential downpour (about 4in) the night before and it was in the middle of her front yard (I used 4 - 10ft ratchet straps as comealongs to get the tractor to the trailer). I was fine until I put the weight on the trailer and that's when I started to sink.

 

Was recently sent this. Appears to be taken or posted in March 2016. Picture taken around Lock Haven. Anyone know any othet details? It's only a matter of time anyway.

Be nice to have a wild Hog season in Pa more fun pound for pound then Big Bears

 

Picture may have been taken anytime and only posted to the FB group later. There are confirmed hogs in south-central pa as well as Tioga Co., escaped from a preserve. They should never have been allowed into the state for hunting purposes.

 

I was under the impression that they are detrimental to the environment?

 

They are mighty tasty having been smoke cured though.

I've heard stories from years back when pigs were released on the mountain near Forksville (Sullivan County) for the Pa. Bowhunters Festival. They were meant to be hunted but many got away. Anybody else also hear that?

 

Wild pulled pork and smoked ham. Not fat enough for good bacon.

Seriously bad invasive species though, think drunks with D10s, for the amount of damage they can do in a very short order. And no real predators either.

 

It's semi true, my boss use to go on those hunts. Was all sorta jealous when I went on my hog hunt down south. They would release a few hogs and a bunch of turkeys supposedly. But they were released at the top of the mountain, and the mountain was completely surrounded with hunters. Preventing any from getting away. Some huge hunt fest from the sounds of it. I think we would know by now if any got away. Considering the way those things spawn.

 

With all the gas drilling up North someone should have seen something.

If there was a real problem I think a bounty might work look what it did to Coyotes in my youth.

How do they handle the winter temperatures you would think they would migrate north after all these years but that seems not to be the case

 

Some of those hogs have Russian red in them, those devilish critters reside in Siberia, our winters are like vacationing in Florida.

 

Aside from the fact that pigs in general are tough SOBs, you're right, most of the feral hogs in the US are cross bread with Russian wild bore. A very healthy wolf population will help.

TN recently created a new category of animal in the game management system, just for wild pigs, it's below Varmint. Varmint already has no closed season or bag limit, the new category has no restrictions what so ever, other than land owner permission, and begging you to please kill wild pigs.

 

I live, hunt , fish, trap, and travel through Forksville almost everyday. I know many people who live in Forksville and the surrounding areas. There are no hogs there. Well, the 4 legged ones anyway.
