2GR-FKS on 91 octane: 311hp@6400rpm and 280lb-ft@4800rpm

I'm still waiting on someone to dyno 87 vs 91 on the same truck,dyno,day and post results here.

 

Normally I'd agree but I didn't intend on getting more power. I did the research that it was safe to use and primarily because it's a lot cheaper and I drive too much lol

 

Don't expect to net the cost benefits you are assuming. Ethanol contains less energy than a equivalent amount of gasoline. Ethanol is a great performance fuel if your vehicle is built to accommodate the requirements (larger injectors, fuel pump) and a reason to run ethanol fuel (forced induction). You are going to end up filling more often.

I agree with this. I've run alot of different mixes. 87 E10, 89 E10, 93 E10, pure 91 and pure 93 and haven't noticed any difference in power. Some blends do seem to run smoother than others though, could be coincidence. My favorite has been E10 89 but it's also the one I've used the most repetitively. I probably bounced around too much with the other blends for it to adjust properly to them.

 

Need to send these guys an email about the 3rd gen tacoma. They might could swing a profit considering they already doing most of the leg work with the IS350

Its definitely in the DNA of the 3.5, got to rev the piss out of it.

 

They're only about an hour away from me, but I don't think I'll have the money to go do that for a couple of months (being a responsible adult sucks). They do offer remote tuning, it sounds like you get their software and cable and drive with your computer attached to your truck, and then you send the data back to them to make the tune. So you don't have to physically go there to be a guinea pig.

 

They do mention on their site they are looking to do more >3.5L Toyota motors.

 

Orange Virus responded back and said they are working on one for the 3rd gen Tacoma. Hopefully it's soon!

But the one thing about toyotas is you cant flash the factory ecu so you will have to run a standalone ecu and the cost of that and a good dyno tune isin't worth it for 20 whp

 

Huh. Seems like thats different information than the people who do this stuff for a living. I assume youve tried and failed repeatedly on a new toyota ecu?

From what youve been told is the opposite of the guys who own shops and make their livings off this. Bet you heard about the 2018 tacoma diesel too huh? Or was that the 2019? Think last year the future 2017's were supposed to come with that option

 

most if what ive gotten info on is toyota products i.e. second gen tc turbo kits, one off xa build and was told that you have to have a piggy back or standalone figured it would be the same for the trucks, and i will say a diesel option would be nice and toyota will more than likley offer one at some point, my guess not with the third generation taco
