I just put a K&N cold intake on and want to change out the stock exhaust and change over to dual exhaust. I DON'T want anything loud nor do I want to loose hp. What is a good system but not to salty? I heard that flowmaster you loose hp. True?? And has anybody heard of a system called MBRP. Found duels on ebay for 370.00 with free shipping and went on the website and they had a sound clip. Didnt sound too bad, but video is hard to tell from.
Can anybody give me some tips????
    Thanks!

I have the mbrp, high quality all stainless will last a long time. Sounds great down low, deep, little to no drone on the highway, and racy sounding up high. get it

I have had nothig but problems with my K&N cold air intake. long story and alot of mony later. keep your stock box. the tube on the K&N duct is too big allowing too much air in the engine. The MAF sensor is telling the engine to lean out the mixture so much you have exxessivly high exhaust temps and over about 2 years time will kill your very expensive catalytic converters.

I hear what your saying haneyjbh. I put mine on Sat and I think I lost HP. Just feels like when the truck shifts it holding back.Im gonna take it off first chance I get and put stock back on and just go with exhaust cause K&N IS POOP!!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY! Wish I would have read some threads before I bought it. Did you go with anything else or did you stick with stock?

How much did you pay? It's on e-bay for 360.00 for duels but I asked what the pipes were made from and he said just reg s.s(not shiney) and that it would not rust.

I agree that K&N filters suck, but I disagree with the MAF telling the ECU to lean out the mixture when there is more air. If it lets in more air, the ECU will pump in more fuel to keep the a/f ratio where it should be. Now, whether or not the stock ECU can adjust enough, I have no idea.

Not trying to nit pick, just don't want incorrect info on the forum.

Back on topic: I don't like tips on trucks, so I'm going to get a Magnaflow muffler welded in and have it dumped over the axle in the near future. Dumped over the axle instead of right out of the muffler to cut down on in-cabin drone.

    Its a difference in theory.

I have had more problems since I installed a K&N cold air intake with the duct and heat deflector. 3 1/2 tanks of gas later the check engine light illuminates telling me that #1 bank too lean. New AFT O2 sensor later and then soon afterward the check engine light tells me that the cataylist system is failed. New FWD O2 sensor later everything is good. but the P0420 comes back to inform me the cataylist system is still AFU. New FWD Cat, and everything is peachy. for about 5 tanks of gas. Then guess who comes back to say the cataylist system is fuct? Yep. Mr. P0420. after much requested 2nd opinions and conformation. The cause of all this B.S is the K&N intake duct is too big, & allowing way too much air for the stock engine to account for, resulting in a ultra HIGH exhaust gas temps destroying the FWD cat.
Much of this theory has come from Toyota dealerships, (just a tip, AFE intakes are suppose to be 10X better. a smaller tube.) exhaust shops, and my latest, a guy named gaget. (no kidding) from Underdog racing development. com tech help).

So agree, disagree, its your choice. these have been the problems assoiated with the K&N intake I personally have experenced. Its has been the most expensive $250 dollars I have ever spent. K&N + Toyota = wasted time and lots of $$$.

    Toyota owner.

i know this is a massive thread revival, and also i doubt you still have the K&N but it could've been b/c the filter was over oiled. I have had mine for over a year now and have even cleaned it and have never received a CEL (knock on wood). Just a thought
