Bedside Bottle Opener hardware

I drilled a smaller pilot hole first then mounted with stainless screws. Still holds up today.

I mounted to the composite bed so that it would be a little more tucked out of the way. Also I did not want to worry about rust (though it sounds like others have not had issues). Anyways, for mounting to the bed I bought stainless fine thread bolts, lock nuts, and large washers. I drilled the holes kind of small and had to work to thread the bolts in and was surprised at how sturdy it was without the nut/washer. Especially with fine threads! I put the rest of the hardware on anyways because I had it. However, if you wanted to try self tappers that would hold up to opener use just fine. I would only be worried about damage if something heavy in the bed banged into the opener.

 

I thought this MOD was funny, so got it done today. I have had the truck 3 weeks.

Looks great. How did you get access behind the panel to attach the hardware?

 

I did this same thing and regret it kinda. Its at a weird angle and whenever I open a beer...the damn beer explodes beer all over the place. I'm gonna have to JB weld the holes and spray it to relocate my bottle opener. Kind of a bummer. C'est la vie.

@At The Helm Made one on each side of his wheel chock tie down system. So all I have to do is reach over the bed by the tie down and there it is...
