Louder "ding-ding" when lock-unlock with fab key thing?

Each time I use the fab key to remotely lock-unlock the truck the "ding-ding" sound is anemic. Is there a way to hook it up to the horns for a louder sound confirmation?

 

You can adjust it through the setup screen on the head unit I believe. You might want to check, or read the manual.

 

Mine is more of a Beep Beep than a Ding Ding.

 

Maxed out in app. Need a REAL beep. Horn like. Let the block know I got home. Wake up the neighbors. Get the dogs howling.

Kind of funny, we just had a thread in the 2nd gen section about silencing it--one of the first things I did (after silencing the damned seat belt reminder)...

 

Where is that noise making thing located? Looked under the dash and front (without taking parts apart) and can not find it.
Why are 2 horns in the front? (front of radiator) Back up if one fails? "move" and "MOVE"?

 

They have different tones on my Tundra, probably the same on the Tacoma, not 100% sure though. So you should probably go with "Wake neighbor" tone for the left and "Make dog howl" tone on the right.

I think the door lock/unlock beep is actually those 2 horns, just a very short pulse. So you probably could replace them with louder horns to make the door beep louder, but it might have a negative effect. Louder horns usually require more time to start making a noise, so since the beep signal is VERY short, it *might* not be long enough to make them sound / sound any louder.

 

The two horns are "high" and "low" note, to make the total sound a harmonic rather than the "meep-meep" that many Japanese cars and most bikes had/have.

On my '09 the "ding-dong" for the remote locking looks like this--don't know if it's the same on the 3rd gens, but it's not Toyota's style to change just for the sake of change.
All I had to do was unplug it:

 

There is a small speaker like thing on the passenger side near the firewall.... That is the "ding-ding" thing, I think..!! If you replaced that thing with a horn, it would be louder...!! Open hood and lock the door with the remote.... I think you will find the culprit..

 

The thingy appears to be a piezoelectric element, which is a relatively low current device and may be powered by 5 volts from the locking control module. Make some measurements to determine the nature of the driver signal before just hooking up a horn; if the driving circuits are not protected from overload it could damage the module...
