I'm taking a metal fab class at the community college. It's a night time class for those just interested in metal fab as a hobby. It's totally cheap for most but actually free for me because my wife is a professor there. I have access to shears, breaks (benders), iron workers, rollers, grinders, mig, tig, gas, plasma cutters, pattern cutters (draw up a cool pic and I'll cut it out of a skid plate or something in about 5 minutes), etc, etc. The professor teaches you how to use equipment then turns you loose. Very cool guy, if you can't do it, he'll either help you or do it for you. There are head high piles of scrap metal free for the taking that all of the local businesses donate.

I've got my sliders half done. They'll be finished in another class or two. I'll bend up some 3/16" thick skids next. They should go fast. A high clearance 3/16" rear bumper with the 2" receiver embedded and then hopefully a front bumper by the end of class in June.
