    Hey everybody, I'm relatively new to turbos and would love to get a rear mount setup on my 2.7 3rd gen running low boost just for some extra power to play with. What modifications would need to be made for it to work reliably? Would I have to improve my fuel system?

    first off...do you offroad a lot? Why a remote system and not in the engine bay?

    Mainly for cost purposes so I can bypass a turbo manifold all together. They're expensive plus the 2.7 has air injection and it throws codes once that's gone. As far as offroading, I go where I can lol mainly just on light trails and shallow mud

    Injectors probably, rising rate fpr if you wanna be budget minded and a bigger pump, but i don't know much about the 2.7

    I figured I'd need injectors and a fuel pump. But at low boost they wouldn't have to be too big right?

    About 5psi and the stock system would probably be fine(from what I understand about stock toyota fuel systems), your issue would be closed loop enrichment.

    Oh a 3rd gen? I dunno about injectors then apparently direct injection injectors are hard to get in bigger sizes...
    Closed loop is normal driving, ECU will fight arm and leg to keep AFR's at 14.7:1
    Open loop varies from vehicle to vehicle but is usually around 13:1-12:1.

    You'll wanna be in the 12's for 5 psi to prevent pre detonation a cracked piston. Although just 5psi wouldn't hurt anything really you'd want AFR's in the 12's to make decent power. Your issue will be making the AFR's richer for boost while still in closed loop

    Follow what @MrCrowntown is doing, in his build thread. He's working with LC Engineering to make a front turbo manifold.

    I've been through the rear mount mess. Trust me. The cost savings didn't cover the problems.

    I had a whole build thread about it, on XRU. Condensed it down to the first couple pages on here.

    Always sucking up water, snorkel placement issues, filter getting so clogged with dirt that it had to be replaced rather than washed, wastegate always getting water in it screwing with the boost pressure, nearly all of 1st gear turbo lag, boost reference issues, oil pump for the drain issues.....just a couple minor things.

    @GioGuitarDude had a rear for a while. Switched to bay mount....some of the same issues. Oil return and feed issues too.....

    What a pita really. Not worth it at all......
