Bay Area Suspension Install Prices?

Hey guys, I've been looking at reputable shops to install my suspension. The prices I've been quoted are higher than expected! Just want to check if the prices sound about right.

Basically installing front / rear suspension, and some other stuff.

• CS047R - 2.75" Dakars Leaf Springs

• Extended Brake Lines
• Cab Mount Chop

• Alignment

I was quoted $1670 and $1575 from two separate shops. Sounds kinda high?

 

I'd guesstimate you're looking at about 10 hours labor for the suspension, another hour for cmc, maybe some time for alignment, for brake lines, carrier bearing, etc.
Price looks about right to me unfortunately (at the hourly rates typical to this area).

Maybe you can host a mod day with free beer and food and the gurus on TW might help.

 

This is what I would do.

I installed my suspension myself. But there are plenty of guys that would help for food and beer.

If @MJonaGS32 hosts a mod meet I can make I'll do the install. Can't do the cab mount and probably won't have time for break lines but I could do the rest in a day.

And you will still need an alignment

 

yeah thats too much. i did the rears in like 1 1/2 hours. taking my time. i had a lift and air. ill let you know how the fronts take.

 

If you're close to the South Bay my buddy can do the cab mount chop for you he just did mine last week you can check out his fab work on instagram user name dsrxmilogen

 

Does he have a website etc. I just need someone to weld on my frame re-enforcement plates.

 

he does not he does the fabrication stuff after hours since he also works a full time job you can check his instagram for his work

Also you could probably do the suspension install yourself. I was able to do my rears, and if I could do it anyone can, trust me.

 

+2 for milo, he did my cab mount chop and BAMF shock mount install. nothing fell apart yet.

 

+3 for Milo, He did my rear BAMF Shock mount install and had to redo my Cab mount chop since I went 35's

 

Another one for Milo. So far he's done two mount chops for me when I needed additional clearance and a number of other top notch welding jobs. If you need this done he's definitely the one to hit up.

Yeah 10 hours was the quoted time. I'd be down to host a mod day with free food and beer! I don't have a grill though, but I can order Kinder's or whatever is good! I take it we can't go wrong with BBQ.

If @MJonaGS32 host a mod day, I'll call in sick / vacation for it if you can make it!

That's pretty fast! I don't have lift and air though. I have jack stands at most.

CMC on my tundra is like it came from factory.

 

Damn 10 hours .
I swapped out my front and rear in 3 hours no power tools. I was highly motivated though. (I was heading to the desert the next weekend and it was the only time I had to make the swap.)

Mod day, Dudes will come from all over to mod your truck with you.

 

@MJonaGS32 Mod Day at the end of the month?

 

@Chapman Just make sure you PB Blast all your suspension component mount points a week prior to make it easier to remove. 4 years later makes things a little tough, especially if it has seen any offroad use.
