We were fine. She did great! :D

We are very proud of her. She's a book worm but loves playing outside, too. I'm working on getting her training wheels off now. She's very determined.

She does pretty good. Her biggest thing is thinking she can do something already and not wanting help.

@Tacoma Mike - My youngest son is getting his degree in auto tech, he will be testing for his 5th ASE cert next month. He has an opportunity for a position at a Land Rover/Jaguar dealership, but hey require a full set of tools. He has his eyes on Snap-on or Matco. He can get a discount thru school, but does he need top-of-the line to start out with (buy once, cry once) or can he buy less expensive and upgrade as needed? Thoughts of the master are much appreciated.

    Mike

Spend the money now on a good full set of tools like from Mac then he's set . Most of the tool trucks offer payment programs so its not a huge hit to the wallet at one time

He doesn't need the biggest baddest top of the line roll away tool chest yet . He can easily start off with a 9 drawer roll away and chest then build from their

When I was working for Schnieder Trucking I had a Matco tool box and a mix of Snap On , Mac , Craftsman and Harbor Frieght tools

Totally agree with Chuck. I started out with your basic Craftsman tools and as time went on, I had accounts with Snap on and Mac for more specialized tools. They make tools that make your life a little easier. It's best to start out with quality tools that will hold up(and not round out bolt heads and nuts). Beats the good old days of hammer, chisel, channel locks and knuckle busters and a good old screw driver/prying tool:D. Tell your son good luck on the test Mike.

Ken thanks for your info, feedback and well wishes. This is all good info that is helpful. He has asked me to pay up front and he would make payments back to me. Should I charge interest, lol?

Run away. You should have raised him better.
Become a hermit. Anything but a auto tech.
    Give me his phone number.
I'll have him hiding in the corner sucking his thumb wanting his mama.
Ok that is my standard response.

    To be honest.
I bought a craftsman box and a complete set. I think it was a 10000 piece.
I still have that set at the house.
Make no mistake snap on and Mac are great tools. I have bought snap and Mac as I needed over my many years. I won't spend the money now on that that I'm on in my career. I buy the cheaper tools now. My chests at the house are harbor freight and husky and my snap on roll cabs. If I need another box it won't be a snap on or Mac. I almost bought a storage chest for all my tools for 10,000. Nope.
    IN MY HONEST OPINION.
Starting off and not sure of a career I think going whole hog on top end tools is a mistake.
I ran craftsman for 5 years before I started buying snap on.
After a few years if he makes that decision to commit to being in it for his life then as he needs more tools then yes go after the snap on and Mac.
    I will say this.
    Air tools.
Definitely buy hi quality. I bought snap on for years and switched to Mac. Cheaper and to me just as good. I beat the snot out of my guns.
I still use my snap on air hammer that's like 40 years old.
I use a lighter composite gun and over the years it will save your arms.
Don't worry about not having snap on or mac boxes, tools etc. it's not a status fashion statement.
Some places supply the box......... If they do then he dam well needs enough money saved somewhere untouched in case he leaves because he will need a box to store them tools he has.
Will he get grief? Yes. He better have a big set of balls and leave his feelings at the door.
The first time he runs to HR to complain about something will be the last time he will get assistance.
He will pay many times over for every mistake he makes.
    Mmmmmmmm
I better stop now. I'm starting to get into old tech mode.
I wish him well if he decides to continue and just remind him he has people's lives in his hands with everything he does to that car. Doing things right is the only way no matter what he sees others do. As long as his bay is honest then he will be able to sleep at night.
You only have one chance for a reputation in this field. Once it turns bad, it will never, ever be good again.
    Good luck to him..:hattip:
