I get a lot of crappy test mules from OEMs. We always have to do a lot of cutting and destruction on these so I always walk away with a few souvenir.

Along the wheel lines when I bought my 2011 I had damaged wheels and they took the wheels off a new one on the lot, put them on mine, and then put mine on the other one... Someone got my jacked up wheels...

Long block includes heads. Old heads would be used with short block

Crappy situation...toyota Customer service helped me file a claim against my dealership when they lost/damaged my TPMS on my TRD trail wheels. After that toyota paid for everything even installing extra parts I had laying around.

I know I would want a new truck as well even though it wouldn't happen. Extended warrenty you would definitely get im sure. But if I was in your shoes trade in the truck, take a small lose in trade if they won't comp you, and get something else...I would always think it's a bad engine even with warrenty... with full paperwork.

    Good luck!

No that isnt my area code id rather not say the dealer name right now but they are someone I wont buy from again to their lack of customer service....i cant get the service manger to respond to my email as I asked if it would be all new parts...i assume so and I will ask when and if the repairs are done...today is day 15 in the shop so they still have plenty of time sadly to fix the truck and even if they do it doesnt mean I have to keep it...I can trade it anytime

Can I keep my old short block they should let me inspect it and make a coffee table out of it...I like that idea so the motor can serve some useful purpose...:bananadance:

You can get a complete long block from Toyota anytime. Just have to order it and it comes from the same production line as the ones that go in cars.

    They don't remanufacture engines.
The only way a used engine goes into a warranty claim car is if the dealer is committing fraud. Your "example" may have been a kid that was paying out of pocket for his blown engine, if not I'm sure there are some serious legal issues you are an accomplice to.

Wait I lost track of this thread. So where are we at? OP's Turd Gen Engine took a shit. Brought home loaner Highlander. Wife falls in love with it. OP is now getting Toyota Dealer and Corp to pay the difference on a trade for the Highlander?

You sir are misleading everyone that reads the bullcrap you post. Toyota does not use salvage parts in their warranty repairs! EVER

    Parts Replacement:
Any needed parts replacement will be made using new or remanufactured parts. The decision whether a part should be repaired or replaced will be made by the servicing Toyota dealership and/or Toyota. Parts scheduled to be replaced as required maintenance are warranted until their first replacement only.

I have not dug through the warranty guide to see but I think we should to settle this one. I have never heard of junk yard parts for a warranty repair. A large insurance carrier tried this on me several years ago and it didn't end well for them.

That makes sense. BTW, I have no idea what Toyota's policy is but I was taken back by junkyard BUT an insurance company did do it to me straight from a junkyard (bumper). It was scratched up and dented so it cost them an extra $5K when we settled. Some may still have that practice in place but under all circumstances the part has to be like or better so it always pays to have pics of your stuff so you don't get screwed later. Thanks for the clarification - I appreciate it. :)

Page 10 of the 2016 Tacoma Warranty and Maintenance Guide. That's the legally binding document that you told me to look at. I'd go back and quote that post but you obviously don't have a high level of reading comprehension.

Please quote the posts where I called someone a "name".

You haven't stated or provided any references. You've posted up a load of crap that never happened in an attempt to disparage Toyota.

I don't need a high post count to call you out for being a liar. You may well have "helped" someone in the past, maybe a lot of people. That does not allow you to tell flat out lies and mislead people about salvage engines being used in warranty repairs.
