I have a camp that's very flooded every year, and have heard of/gonna do rear did breather mod as seen here on TW, but what about transfer cas, transmission, front differentials? They all should have appropriate vents. Are they high enough to accommodate high water crossings? I have a 2017 TRDORDCSB

how hard is it to do the front diff, tranny and transfer on the 3rd? Doesn't look like there is a lot of room. The front diff and Tranny should be easy to just extend the hosing to the ARB kit, but the transfer case, that one might be an issue.

Not sure on 3rd gen, but on my 2nd gen, the transfer and transmission tee together and share a common breather that extends up on the left side of the engine. The other breather right beside it is for the front diff.

So if it is the same it's just add in a length of hose to a proper breather. I'll have to check out the service manual and , get under the truck again.

Other breathers are high enough, unless your plan is to have the water level higher than the foot well.

Or more specifically how deep is this river you plan on crossing?

My understanding is not about them being high enough it's about having the two way valve on the end of the hose that allows them to constantly breath.

Aren't the stock breathers designed to seal shut when the temps in the diff reduce? This would allow for water intrusion through the ends of the axles would it not? Or am I out to lunch on this?

My dive budy was using a boat launch and ruined his rear rear axles due to this as they had to get their trailers further out into the water to launch/load and the breather ended up closing off and sucked up into the diff in 2 feet of water.

    -Correct

    -Correct

    -that sucks and correct.

When you take off the diff breather when warm you'll actually hear the suction noise from air rushing in , if you do it when hot.

I've searched under the hood on my 17 and I'm not finding any breathers under the hood. Do I really gotta do them all on a "Off Road"?
