Not a fan of this kind of look when the tires are dusty

I like the looks! Even though I'm partial to the NATO style wheels, I do like the color matched look of those 5 spoke sr5 wheels.

Ya. Those 5-spoke have grown on me. I think they'll look good in a darker color. I may leave them silver for a while. It's close to the same color as the truck. I also have old school FJ40/60 center caps that fit with a minor modification.

Some good looking trucks. I might want to go this route.

I will be putting fj steelies on mine as soon as my tires arrive. Love the steel wheels! Am still considering painting them something other than black though..

Anyone know how fast steel wheels start to rust?

You don't happen to have a side view, do you? I have those exact same tires for my snows and I'd be curious to see how they look. I was running 2G Off-Road wheels from my old truck as snow wheels but am always interested in changing things up.

Nah it looked terrible, the problem with steelies is the offset, it really brought the rims in.

I only run winters 4 months so they have been off since feburary haha.

I'd suggest an alternative to Toyota spare steelies if I were looking for something that was more cosmetic than functional.

    Post some pics!

I'm thinking something similar as far as paint. Maybe something traditional in an old fj40 or 70 series style wheel color. White, grey, sand, black?

I was thinking the TRD Pro cement colour, if I could find it. Might be too similar looking to my silver sky metallic truck though?

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty damn happy with the way this ended up....looks pretty good I think.

A little bummed I cant use my factory steel FJ center caps, but it is what it is.

Steelies can be a problem in thick clay! Had to run the spare here after blowing my second duracrap sidewall, and the mud got so packed in that the truck just stopped moving. Had to pull it off and spend 30 mins with large screwdriver and a shovel cleaning it all out so I could get going again.

Not a big deal or something to be often encountered running them only as a spare, but in AZ mud, stock steelies as every day rims would be a no go for me.

Nice! Looks good. I am always on the lookout for black steelies myself, and will be making the switch eventually.

Thank you; I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out overall.

On another note; I was lucky enough to receive this set of wheels from a buddy. Three of them were in good shape(needed a repaint), and one had been shot several times with a pistol. I opted to avoid the traumatized wheel, and replace it with an aftermarket one I found through my work. After getting it in, it looked to be a perfect match....boy was I wrong. The holes for the lug nuts were oversized and wouldnt accept a Toyota standard lug nut, as well as the barrel design being slightly different. Hard to notice without having an OEM wheel right next to it, but enough to deter me nonetheless(the big issue for me was the lug nut mounting hole, in all reality). I ended up hammering out and working the damaged wheel to the point its hard to notice its ever been damaged; damn things rolls smooth and steady, no vibrations.

Point of all this; be wary using aftermarket when it comes to FJ wheels, especially if you're looking to match them up to OEM wheels. They are slightly different.
