Tried to pass f150 eco boost today

The Ford looks better without a camper IMO no offense.

Oh and the inside literally blows an F-150 to hell. It's sublime.

 

Man yesterday I saw the ugliest Chevy of all time. I like the ones with lights like yours but some with the LEDS look like garbage. This particular truck had the LED front end and a non colour matched head ache bar that I would of sworn was stolen off of a 2004 Avalanche. Worst part is that it had some special edition badge on it so that's a thing people actually pay more for! It still had dealer stickers on it and I'm sure it won't be leaving the lot anytime soon again lol.

The newer GMC's and Fords look really good. I'm on the fence about the Chevy for the reasons I said, some of the baser ones look great but done up they look horrid. The Dodges haven't changed in years and I feel look terribly dated at this point. Plus the new RAM lettering on the back makes me want to plow my F150/Tacoma into the back of them lol.

 

Stomp into a GM 6.2 and I think you might not care about LED's.....

 

Meh I like my 5.0 L Coyote just fine . Can't wait till next year when the company sends me one of the new Fords though. I really like what they did with the front end for 2018 and there are some exciting options coming out that I hope we get access too. It's a lot nicer when you get a decent truck that you don't even have to pay for! A free to use F150 Screw XTR isn't a bad truck at all.

I only get a limited choice of engines with my company. They'd never let us choose a 6.2 L anything lol. Fuel economy would kill us over the fleet. Right now you can get a 2.7 L Ecoboost or the Coyote. I went with the Coyote only because it was a longer wait for a 2.7 L. My coworker went with the Ecoboost and his truck dusts mine. He loves it over his 5.3 L Silverado for towing, his family is all GM but he doesn't mind his work Ford at all.

Plus we always get to laugh at our competitors driving Dodges. The last company I worked for before this one ran mostly Rams after running Fords in the 2000s. The Ram 2500 and 1500s were garbage for us.

 

The 6.2 is giving me 19mpg on average. Much less if I stomp it, lol.

I can't express how comfortable and capable this rig is as a truck. It's not a trail rig, but it is a hell of a truck. GM blew me away on this one

 

At work I'm very hard on trucks. We check the wells every day through farmers fields rain or shine. Mud, snow blizzards, rain, everything. A few hundred pounds of tools in the back. My last two F150's, one 5.0 and one eco-boost had no problems and got drove hard to just over 100k km's in the 2.5 years I owned them. Not huge mileage but not having it in the shop every days off on a 10 and 4 shift is all that matters to me. My last GM could barely make a shift without going into limp mode or just leaving me stranded.
I did just get a new GMC sierra 1500, 5.3L I think it is. Very nice inside and out IMHO, we will see how good it last's. I'm not holding my breath though as another guy has 60000 km on his now and he;s done both front wheel bearings, the rear breaks 4 times, front breaks once (which isn't bad for all the dust and mud). Both headlights have failed (at the same time lol), and the heater would not switch to defrost/ floor etc, had to be fix
ed.
Mileage so far for me has been the best in the 5.0 ford over the 3.5 eco-boost. The 5.3 looks like it will compete with the 5.0 though. My mustang gets better mileage then the ford, chev or taco if I keep of the gas!

 

Yeah there really isn't much difference in fuel economy between all the gas trucks. However big lease companies quote everything based on trim level and engine so 6.2 L trucks end up costing a lot more to large corporations over say a fleet of the smaller V8s.

Yeah I love the ride on my Ford too. All of these trucks have become amazing highway cruisers. What shocks me is how quiet and smooth they tow. I love having my 21 foot trailer behind the truck. I couldn't say that with either my Dodge or older Fords. You would think the aluminum body and less weight would throw things off but the lower center of gravity really makes things easy peasy.

 

I just did 1,030 miles in my truck in the last 3 days.. highway and off-road.

No issues. Pure comfort and power when needed.

 

The 2011 FX4 over at Taber CPS has 400K on it. 3.5 L Ecoboost. The only thing that's been replaced is a cam sensor. What a freak of a truck lol.

I'd also comment that locally I prefer the service at Ford since College took it over totally. The old dealership ownership when it was 50/50 wasn't great.

 

I've done 15K in 2 months lol. No issues on my 2015 F150. Also a field truck but in Agriculture not Oilfield. Newer trucks REALLY shouldn't have anything fail before 60k even if it's a lemon. The last time I heard of shit failing super early was on the Ecodiesel Rams. Some guys never even hit 10K with them in a year because they were stuck in the shop so long. Newer ones seem better though. At least Ford is going with the exact engine Land Rover has been using for several years here. Shouldn't be any problems that Ram had. Plus it's a Ford engine, not a third party engine. Ask Ford how great third party engines are lol. Navistar almost drove the Superduty brand out of the market here.

 

I drove the little ecoboost before I bought the Chevy. Not impressed at all..

 

I've had good experiences at Taber ford but they see the fleet card and are happy to help! I'm not looking forward to my first visit to the chevy dealer. Not really sure if they improved since my last chevy in 09 ish? All the dealers at one point or another here have told us " you've driven this off- road, we can't warrenty that" lol.

Interesting. All the third party tests show it out tows the 5.3 L because of the better low end torque. It wouldn't hold up to a 6.2 L at all though. No doubt there. Kind of an apples and oranges there though.

Trust me, I don't fight people on their own decisions on here. I'm sure you did your research before pulling the trigger and you sound very happy with the GM. Getting back to my original comment I was just a little taken aback by GM's newer high end trims. I think their base model and older trims looked a lot better.

 

I remember a few years ago when Ford started warranty on chipped trucks but then a few guys took it too far and they had to pull it. So many angry people lol.

 

It's up to the dealer but ford did send out a tsb when the 5.0's come out in the mustangs not to warranty anything that's been tuned. I would not were it my dealership that's for sure. Some of the bigger tuner's started giving engine warranty's if it was the #8 piston that blew, as that was the problem guys had when they tuned them.

I miss my 03 Dodge Ram Hemi but don't miss the hard to park in tight spaces,fuel economy,narrow trails,poor resale value,dependability,etc etc ...
