GET IT IN WRITING! that this truck will be covered under the Toyota Frame replacement suit. If you can get the dealership to put that in writing and sign it; I would buy it. If its not in writing its not worth anything; they can tell you anything to get you to buy it. It's not illegal for them to lie and they know it; as long as its not on paper they don't have to honor anything.

A few years back my brother in law purchased a vehicle from our local Honda dealership; they told him they would fix the bumper crack for him if he bought it; well guess what? He bought it and then took it to them the next week to get the bumper fix. What did they do? NOTHING; didn't even look at his bumper. He even talked to the same guy who sold him the vehicle; he said that he could get it fix but my brother in law would have to pay for the work. Load of shit; so I inspected the vehicle; turned out it had bad brakes; worned out rotors and one bad caliper. I went with him to the dealership and said if they ain't going to fix his bumper at least fix the brakes because that's a safety issue and they guarantee that their vehicles goes through a 100 something point inspection.

Sales manager came out and talked to me; said that this vehicle was inspected and deem safe. I told him, you can go ask any mechanic and they will tell you its not road safe and if we drove the car and got into an accident; I gurantee we will be back to sue. He kept insisting that it was inspected and safe. I told him to get me one of his mechanics and I'll ask the mechanic myself and I'll video record it and if the mechanic says that its 100% safe, I would be on my way. Of course he didn't bring out any mechanics; He went ahead and did the repairs at no cost because he knew I was damn right after arguing for nearly 45minutes.

I hate dealerships; they are out to get every penny from you and will lie to get it.

They were so confident about that frame replacement that I did in fact ask them for it in writing and they said that they couldn't do it. "But you are sitting here assuring that I'd get a new one? So if you are so confident then it should be no problem right?" The sales man was absolutely flustered and didn't know what do do with himself. So he went and got his manager and I said the same to him and he was like "we can't cover Toyota's liability" okay, but you'll sell me a truck with a rotting frame. Who covers when that frame snaps? Me? So I walked.

OP -- Plain and simple, a nice Tacoma is going to cost some bucks. They hold their value well, there's rarely a 'good deal', it's all relative. The best thing you can do is figure out your budget and then do your research homework if you find something that interests you (like YOU did).

Yeah I know, I've realised the budget thing and I've raised it a few times. If I'm going to be spending close to 15k or even 20k, it's gotta be perfect for me. Putting that much into a truck that isn't 100% perfect is a waste in my eyes
