US Offroad Bumper Install (with winch)

On mine I had to cut it off. Not sure if that has changed since I got it or not.

 

Are people mounting their controls on top of the cable? Is there enough room back there to do that?

 

I mounted my solenoid up and over to the left, in the grill area. Cleaner look. Not sure I could have got it on top of the winch. Definitely get one with a remote mountable solenoid.

 

Cool dude, could you snap a picture best you can when you're able to? Interested in seeing where you put the control box. Mines going in this Saturday (fingers crossed) and I'm just getting all my ducks in row best I can.

The AC line behind the grill didn't interfere at all with anything?

 

What winch are you putting in? My ENGO 10k I was able to mount the box on top of the winch, it was tight, but it fit. I can reach the plug for the wired control from the gap no problem (though I'm about to wire controls into the cab, well, because I had room in the switch panel.)

 

I mounted a Smittybilt X20 12k synthetic with the solenoid on top and in the center and no issues with fitting. It was tight but zero rubbing issues.

 

Good to here. I'm not sure the difference between the x20 vs XRC but someone on here told me the controller won't fit when it's mounted on top of the cable, I'm assuming because the bracket that airbag sensors mount to.

I'll just have to wait and see this Saturday when I tear it all down. Thanks for the heads up folks.

 

I'd recommend putting the fairlead on first, then putting the winch in the bumper, then sliding the entire unit in place, it's a HELL of a lot easier to get the winch all sorted out before putting it on the truck, I, of course, did it the other way around. Including forgetting to put the fairlead on till after the winch was bolted in place (with some difficulty I might add), AND didn't wire the winch till after it was bolted in (also a PITA).

 

Yeah I have no clue of the XRC since it sits higher. The bracket may be in the way. If I was in front of my truck I could take some height measurements for you but I won't be around it until Sunday unfortunately.

 

I can only laugh because I did almost the same thing. Except I bolted the winch down and hooked up the wiring. Once I mounted it all up including the bumper guard I realized it would be hard to mount the fairlead. Ended up removing the bumper and pulling the winch off and redoing it all right.

 

I feel better now. I felt like an idiot for not noticing the space constraints on the fairlead bolts. Had to pull it all apart and redo it, too.

You won't regret it. Very functional, and I get a lot of people asking me about it. Best mod I've done to date!

 

Forgot to post these up. Install went fine. Very clean.

The one think I would like to do is make quick-connect fittings near the battery for the power and ground cables so they're not hooked up to the battery constantly.
Has anyone done this? Where can I find some of these for 4G cable?

 

Looks good. I'm thinking of making a switch to somehow turn on power to the winch from inside the cab

 

All of you that have installed the winch and bumper, how much if any sag in front end? Im running OME 885 coils now and was womdering if the front will sag a bit.

 

Late to this, but i had about 1/2" with stock coils. I added adjustable bilsteins and brought it back up, a bit over where it was.

 

.25" both sides on stock SR Springs.

 

Haven't tried taking the bellypan off since installing. Looking it at,it looks like a tight fit--can the bellypan be removed?
