    A thing or two...
So I was messing around with BorgWarner's MatchBot a few weeks ago and made up the below tubo maps. I mapped for sea level where I live now and 10k foot elevation for if I ever travel back west. I also did winter/summer temps at both altitudes. What do you all think of the matches? Am I trying for too much having boost all the way down at 2000 RPM? If I ever get around to doing FI on my truck, my goal will be 300-400 RWHP.

Looks okay to me. But you'll literally always be in boost. Might be hard to tune with a piggy back, probably would need a standalone.

And you'll be right on the edge of that turbos ability at the higher rpms. Heat could become an issue on it.

A turbo that can boost as low as 2000 is going to get choked out at like 250 whp. From there you could pre turbo methanol which has the effect of increasing the compressor map up and right given the same operating speeds but there seems to be a lot of mixed reviews on whether thats safe or not.

Yeah I think you should give up on that for a turbo build. I'm not an expert on turbos but those compressors all look too small. You should never be outside the choke line. I would select a turbo based on your max output since that's when your engine is most likely to explode.

I only have as of yet, clicked the first link. I am curious why you chose a 2.0L engine? Edit*** my page didn't load properly before due to signal loss. Tried it again and it was proper.

In that link you selected the 7064EFR turbo. For all of those wondering, it is rated at 560hp.

    https://www.full-race.com/store/efr-series/turbos-efr-series/borgwarner-efr-7064-turbo-2.html/

That turbo will absolutely rock on your 2.7!

Which size did you purchase again @MrCrowntown?

The thing that people cannot relate to, unless they have had a before and after comparison of turbos personally, is how responsive these EFR turbos are!

Going from Precision Turbo, journal bearing, rated for ~ 700 hp, to a much larger EFR rated for 1000, with a much larger turbine A/R, both on T4 flanges, the turbo would still break the boost threshold ~1k rpms sooner.

    Unbelievable!

    .82 A/R to a 1.09 A/R.

From a ball bearing turbo, it wouldn't be as drastic, but would still be sooner.

I still maintain that it'll work, but be very hard to tune with a piggy back as it'll be boosting all the time haha even in closed loop.

Will need a standalone for it.

Oh yeah. It will be a spool happy sum-beotch. Me personally, Id get the largest A/R on that turbo, to slow down the spool speed some.

The one MrCrowntown has, states that it is for up to 2.6L. Might be more aptly suited. The efficiency range is just higher.

So the question then becomes, how far does Buyobuyo want to take the boost?

OEM's use smaller turbos for response. The one he selected would be like an upgrade to an OEM turbo.

Opening up the Turbine A/R would help for sure. Not sure that is an option with the 70mm turbine wheel..but if it is, getting it to .96 or 1.06 would help. But..if you wanted a super street turbo truck..be fun as fuck to have boost all the time!

Just have to invest a lot more to make it work on the fuel/management side

so yes...how far down the rabbit hole will he go...

I can pull 4 to 5 psi at 2000rpm. Motor doesn't do crap besides feeling a bit of slow torque pull. Depending on my load condition my truck can pop into open loop around 2300rpm. Not until the engine gets above 3k do I really feel anything exciting. I tend to boost above 3k to be easy on my rods.

    im confused..

how is it you pull 4-5psi at 2000rpm but only tent to boost above 3000???

This is the map that made me jump on the turbo. A very broad efficiency range. I will be limited to like 600 with this turbo, but it will be fantastic for transient throttle response out of boost

And thats where volumetric efficiency plays a key role. Once that harmony is achieved, beautiful things happen :)

I stopped in Bates today and got some VP C12 fuel I love this stuff used it for drag racing years back and in the Ninja when I had it. I hear everyone talking about E85 and methanol but never this. It seems like this would cut down on detonation too:notsure:

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
yeah people just use e85 instead because its less than $2 a gal for like 105 octane, and methanol does similar things for detonation as e85 plus it cools down intake temps

Sorry phone, I go full retard.
1500rpm spool, making sounds but not doing anything
2000rpm 4-5 psi boost but kinda boring still
    3000rpm 7-8psi getting exciting
4000rpm full boost- things are intense
5700rpm - head slams into dash because rev limiter but pulling like crazy.

BW got some impressive maps. Even the Air werks are really good.
