Have 2010 Sport 4x4, with obviously LSD in rear, and I am guessing the front diff is just open. Will have front and rear lockers in the end, but starting with just one.

Question is: should I throw the arb in the front due to the LSD in the rear, or go a head and throw it in the rear?

I am a boot when it comes to all of this. And couldn't find a thread to this already. Applications for the truck is over landing, no serious rock crawling. But want to try and reduce risk of getting stuck where practical. Appreciate it!!!

Rear. Less chance of breakage. When you do just a front it will work a bit harder to pull the rear over an obstacle and can break front CV's. The rear LSD is not like a locker even though some think its as good.

Also you want to do front and rear the same time so you can also reqear.

Thanks knew regear would be in the cards as well, so your saying doing regear at same time as both lockers is best route. Originally I was thinking of regear in conjunction with the lift and larger tires.

You do NOT have a LSD rear diff unless it was an after-market add on.
Only 2005-2008 SPORT TRD had the mechanical limited slip rear.
In 2009 and after, ALL Tacomas got electronic (brake assisted) limited slip, called TRAC, with two levels of traction control. In 2WD, the higher level is called AUTO LSD (quick push of the VSC button). In 4WD-HI it is automatically on the higher level.
This changed in 2012, with the addition of TRAC-OFF choice in H4, and requiring a quick push of the button. [TRAC-OFF is a terrible name, as it mean TRAC with engine regulation turned off, same as AUTO LSD]

All that being said, put the locker ON THE REAR diff.
When climbing, the center of gravity goes back.

rear, less stress on the front, if it were me id do both at the same time that way i can also regear for when i go to 35s. thats next after my rear bumper I'm hoping.

You can't re gear one and not do the other...unless you never wanna use 4wd

When you gear you must do front and rear at the same time. Or you are not able to use 4x4. Since the re gear can be done during locker install you will save money on labor. You would have to pay or do labor twice if you did not re gear at the same time as locker install. To save time and money you want to re gear and install lockers in both diffs.
