I know there are hundreds of threads like this, but I thought I'd just make my own instead of searching for the right thread. I have a 2014 short bed Tacoma and I just bought 16" double standard wheels. I'm planning on buying king 2.5 RR shocks front and back with camburg kinetik upper arms. I'm wondering if I can fit 285/75/16 without trimming or rubbing. I've read that it's not possible but I'm seeing if anyone else knows other wise due to the backspacing of the methods and the addition of the kinetik uppers.

I'm running the same setup and you will definitely experience rubbing when you're wheeling. I would suggest trimming the trimming inside the wheel well and you should be fine

I have 285/75/16 and I had to remove he mudflaps, trim where they mount, do a CMC, trim the inner wheel wells, beat the pinch weld back and I still rub wheelin'

If there are hundreds of threads about this, why bother making a new one if you'd get all your answers from the hundreds??:notsure:

OP, it's very hard to answer since every truck is different from the factory. Throw some mods on, and there are infinite combos. I don't think anyone gets away with no rubbing and 33's with a 3-inch lift, unless maybe they are running some nearly bald road tires in that size. There seems to always be at least light trimming.

For me - I have 285/70/17 km2s on stock TRD Sport wheels with 1.5 inch spidertrax wheel spacers, JBA UCA, and Icons set at a full 3 inches of lift. I rub on the cab mount and the pinch weld (which is covered by liner), and I had to cut away a good bit of the inner fender flare (you can't really see if your walking by, but if you like, you'll notice). It only really rubs when I'm on a trail, or hit a speed bump/turn too hard.

BUT - if you want 33's and go with something smaller, you'll be left wanting more, and probably end up buying 33s and wasting a ton of money along the way. So just get what you want the first time and trim what you have to. If you search you can find tons of info on what to trim.

OP, with a statement like that your asking to get beat up.

You should look into the "skinny" 33s. 255/80r17 or 255/85r16. They arent as wide and don't require trimming. These are what I'm leaning towards if I even upgrade to a taller tire from my 265/70r17s. There are multiple threads about this tire size, and the 285s.... Just use that search button.

quick search for your answer but simply unless its a skinhy, yes. Just a CMC and mud flaps won't do for serious use. Trimming and Castor changes along with CMC and removed stock mud flaps (recently replaced with Rokbloks oversized) and the rubbing has stopped.
