New lift and alignment advice

Ok, hopefully this is an easy simple question.

I am getting ready to throw on a new Bilstein 6112 kit with upper arms from Camburg but my new Ray10 wheels haven't arrived.

Should I wait to install the lift and wheels/tires at the same time?

Or, just install the lift and throw the wheels/tires on once they come in? I don't really want to do the alignment twice so if I have to wait it's no big deal.

 

Why do you feel you want/need UCAs for 6112s? UCAs for 6112s seem overkill to me. As typically you don't need the added caster unless you're going over 2" lift. 6112s max out at 2" lift...

I'd install the lift, then the tires, then get an alignment all on the same day. 500 to 1000 miles 3 or 4 weeks (or a wheeling trip) later, take back for second alignment...that's just me. It's going to settle and a second alignment is most likely going to be needed.

Buy a lifetime alignment if at all possible. You will get your money's worth.

 

You don't need to do an alignment after swapping wheels.

OP said nothing about tires (edit: he sure did, I can't read). That said, if the tires fit, I don't see the need for an alignment. The new "lift" from tire size comes under the axle, and shouldn't actually affect the truck itself.

If the new wheels have a drastically different offset, then I could see the need for an alignment, yeah.

 

Sorry! Switch from stock TRD sports to Ray10 16x8 with 265-75-16 tires.

 

I figured the arms would be a good investment while I'm in there installing new shocks. I definitely don't want a big lift at all. Plan to set them on them just above stock.

 

That probably wouldn't make much of any difference for an alignment but why not just do it right and get the alignment done with everything on it at once? Again, you're probably going to want two alignments. My numbers changed a decent amount from initial alignment after lift to just a few weeks and ~800 miles later.

Sometimes if the lift is not high enough, the UCAs added caster can cause alignment problems. You'll probably be OK.

I wouldn't have spent the money on them for your particular lift I do not think they'd be worth it. I think you'll be ok using them but you won't know until you get the alignment.

 

This thread probably would have been better served to be posted in the Suspension forum where others with knowledge and experience can chime in.

 

The suspension adjustments require alignment, but when you change size of tires or wheels it will not affect the alignment. The larger tires you put, the settings may look more exaggerated, but i have never seen a change. With the older alignment machines that would attach between rim and tire, i would always put on stock tire/rims to align, then put on aftermarket rims/tires after. The new honeycomb machines that attach on the tire it does not matter to me,it will not damage the rims.

What setting did you put the 6112 on ? Truck looks great

 

Thanks! The front is set at 2 out of 5. Didn't want to go up to much but also don't like setting at the extreme ends (1 or 5).

It's a bit stiff for the first week or so then it breaks in. Zero complaints with the setup.
