Static charge is the most worrysome. Everything else talked about is just Hollywood bs.

Leave it running and keep it in neutral, OP. Never know when you need to make a fast getaway.

If the engine running might cause fuel ignition while pumping gas, why don't people worry about the fuel tank igniting in the same way while driving normal?

If it was such a risk, why don't we have a police officer sitting at every gas station around here? I would think the government would be allover writing tickets for this infraction. Pretty cheap revenue in my honest opinion.

With that said, myself included, why have there been no technical quotes in reference to this question?

Exactly. There's nothing happening while your truck runs that would make it anymore dangerous than being off. Unless of course your motor runs a fucking tesla coil in the bed or your tailpipe is spitting fire at idle

The only real issue to worry about is static charge from getting in/out. That'll for sure blow you the fuck up if you build one.

Here in AZ during certain times of the year we get super bad static charges. I've touched my gas door or pump handle and about jumped out of my boots before from the zap

I can 100% confirm i never turn my truck off when refueling. I don't even have to get out in princess NJ. I do know how to fill up - most diesel pumps are self serve and I fill up at the municipal pumps in the ambulance

Just throw some silica oxygen absorbers in while your fueling up, never have to worry about the air spoiling your fuel again

    Been waiting for this post.

How many police officers turn off their cars?
