South western during early summer. Climate-wise, will still be cool/cold. Somewhat high elevation.

Do you have all your gear? Shelter? Bag? Water treatment? Kitchen?
Use that to guide your pack size.

I would not go over 50L.

Yeah the nights are still chilly out here in the Southwest especially at any kind of elevation. Now, are we talking 2,000' elevation or 8,000'?

Just like @Cuffs said, pack size is greatly going to depend on the bulk of your clothing and your sleep and shelter systems. I would personally only take my 38 liter pack on a 3 day trip because my gear is scaled down and 3 days isn't much food to bring for me. That would leave me room for some winter layers, my down bag, and a very ultralight tent setup with pad, cook set, food, water treatment, first aid, utility items, and water itself.

Yeah. Just need to go somewhere that already has a 50 gallon water supply or else we are going to need more room on our trucks to carry 100 gallons of water.

I was just about to say the exact same thing. I will only backpack/hammock with my EE Revelation quilt. Period. When I truck camp with the RTT, I'll use the big 2-person Teton bag. My other bags are all gathering dust and have for 2 years now.

I camped in my RTT this past weekend and only brought my EE quilt this time. I opened up all 4 doors/windows of the RTT just like I was sleeping out in the open. It was a breezy night, and my Suunto watch showed it was 29 degrees F in the tent (watch was in my tent pocket so it wasn't getting a false reading from my own body heat). I woke up twice in the night sweating, and the quilt covered me even when turning over. I got the xwide model though. It runs unnaturally warm, and I was only wearing boxers, socks, and had to take off my beanie halfway through the night.

Looks like it was the Enlightened Equipment/Enigma products. Thank you.

Enigma and Revelation are the 2 different quilt models that most people buy from Enlightened Equipment. Revelation has a foot box zipper where the Enigma has an enclosed foot box that you cannot open flat like a regular quilt (but you save about an ounce). Otherwise they use the same materials and fill.

My zero bag is a marmot. My summer/light bag is an old ems bag from back when they used to be good. Just picked up a rumpl puffy blanket and that thing rocks.

FWIW, REI's new Magma bag looks pretty legit. 10 degree bag that is 30/32 ounces in regular/long. Basically just as good of specs as a WM but for $350. But, I don't really fit well in regular mummy bags as a big side sleepe unfortunately. An EE quilt will be my next sleep item. I do love my Backcountry Bed though.

Well, never mind because apparently the REI bags are completely sold out!
