It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
How does the bracing on the receiver look?

I'm currently deployed otherwise I would take some pictures for you... but this is the best way to put it... Xoverland and Lawndartdesign (4Runner Guy) use CBI T3 bumpers and haul overland expo trailers all the time with no problems... just watch an episode or two of Xoverlands last season on youtube and that should answer how strong the receiver is lol

I should say I don't know there is much clearance difference between the wrap around style and the Motown I chose. It does give you some side protection, but I the extra weight for that protection isn't worth it to me. I'm not going to be doing that serious of rock crawling, and if I do, it's just metal. :)

So if I get a bumper and remove the spare, what is going to hit when the back comes off a drop. Exhaust and then shackles?

I know this is a silly reason to pick one bumper versus another, but a lot of them keep the stock plate lights and I have the issue where my passenger plate light keeps accumulating moisture.:frusty:

I doubt a plate bumper would *fix* the issue so I'd really rather just throw 'em in the dusty parts bin and start from scratch.

Unless there are some TW members who had leaky lights that were fixed by an aftermarket bumper, maybe??

Even though it reuses stock lights, I do like the look of the Pelfreybilt regular, non-high clearance one.

For me it was no question. I came from rock crawling, and I would not want to bother fixing any smash in the bed sides. I consider the wrap around cheap insurance.

As far as the added weight, I find it to be not that bad. I removed the stock bumper/hitch combo and the damn thing had to be a good 60-70lbs. Now considering my new one weighed in at about 120ish, that's a gain of about 60lbs. That's small in my view.

Shackles maybe, leaf springs, exhaust, bed sides if you don't have protection on there

How does that dual swing work with the rear back up camera? It looks like it leaves a gap for that exact reason.

you do have "some" use... its more or less a straight back view for the receiver hitch area... otherwise all of your peripheral viewing is gone lol

Our standard bumper like the one in the picture shown does not require cutting. It is a direct bolt on replacement.

We are working on a high clearance for the third gen which will require you to cut the bed sides.

Do any of the bumpers you guys have mentioned in this thread extend or effect the red line on the backup camera?

Need more rear bumper options with BSM support. Seems like it'd be easy with plastic covered cut outs like C4 did.
