I have a nice cleaning kit with polymer rods. Problem is that its for a pistol, not enough length. So what do yall think of this?

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011X9V70I

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BD4X7QQ

Its expensive, but looks kewl enough, and includes the carbon scraper ive seen used. There is also a version with coated steel rods instead of brass for $10 less.

Other option is the bore snake. Is it enough on its own or should i still use a bore brush?

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000C50K3

    Opinions please.

There nice! I buy fiberglass rods for my rifles, they don't affect the barrel.

That guy comes off as a complete douche bag. He might be a great guy in person but his internet persona is a douche.

But which do you use? Link?

Opinions on bore snake vs. rod and patch?

I buy my fiberglass rods at my local gun shop, even a coded one is safer than just a brass one. Don't get me wrong, brass has been used for years and years, having an education in metallurgy, the spots a rod hits the most are the two most crucial parts of the gun, the crown in the throat. I'm just not a big fan of introducing metal to metal. Even my brushes are nylon. Before I get too long winded, I use bore snakes in the field just after shooting, but prefer cleaning rods for that GOOD cleaning, because snakes just don't clean as good as rods in my opinion. Heck, some guys don't do either and swear by it, lol

Carbon fiber is always a great choice, but they can't get a little expensive

I've used brass rods in the past, but with much anxiety. I'm about to switch to bore snakes, but that's just me.

Played with the Grendel some more today. Groups at 100 are getting better but still need work.

Few photo's of my redneck bench and a scope view. Recently made the longer top for the bench. It just sits on the bench, don't really need the clamps.

I used this method and install took all of 90 seconds. TRS-25 & UTG mid riser arrived too. TRS has a bit of a flare in the sight. It looks less like a dot* and more like a fuzzy slash. Future possible upgrades: Hogue stock and rubberized grip, maybe a sling. But first: another mag and ammo!

*Looks like a dot in the picture, but not to my eye. Possibly of importance: I have astigmatism in both eyes.

Try not to focus on the dot itself but rather on the target. This may sharpen the dot up a bit. I had an eotech and thought the same thing but I trained my eye to focus on the target and it cleared right up.

Pretty cool, but spendy and difficult to come by from what I've heard. No personal experience shooting one though.

I hear there is just a super longer waiting list like an NFA item. They use a proprietary bolt but from what Ive seen you can shave yours down to work with it

I had an idea regarding the cleaning kits.

Has anyone tried to plasti-derp their cleaning rods?

Why is everyone afraid of brass cleaning rods? Brass is way softer than any material a barrel is made out of...
