I am in but need to disassemble my struts and put the spacers in, then put them back together.

@fatfurious2 is probably sick and tired of hearing me talk about doing this. Actually everyone in this thread probably is. I just need to grow some balls and go get the tool from Advance Auto for $30.

Edit: unless anyone has one I can borrow?!

I'm not sure about 2nd gens, but arent the stock struts super difficult to compress and everyone recommends to have a shop do it and not rent the tool?

    They are pretty dangerous.

What spacer are you trying to install? Usually they just go in between the top of the strut and the coil bucket. And you dont need to disassemble anything

Yes, hence my trepidation. I am just hoping someone has done it themselves. The issue is the shops either want to charge an outrageous amount, or they won't put in the parts that I have bought used due to liability concerns. Which is fine with me. Is double d still around? Maybe I could just have him put the spacers on the struts at his shop (I have a new set of struts I am going to use), and then install them myself.

Ive put a top plate spacer on @boogie3478 front shocks. It just sat on the top. No need to take anything apart. I can take a look at what you are trying to do. And then advise from there

yep, that was going to be my next suggestion is take it to @DOUBLLD

yea that would be pretty simple, but I think he has a spacer that preloads the spring

Here is what I am trying to install: http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/TAC2--2-Front-Spacer-Kit_p_305.html.

And here are the instructions: .

Maybe I am missing something, and for that I would be very embarrassed, but I believe I need to disassemble.

For that one, disassembly is required.

It can be done with the coil spring compressor linked a couple posts up, but its kinda dangerous. I can help you, but we would need to be super careful.

Is there not another way you can get 2" of lift? Can you look into getting bilsteins from @HeadStrong Off-Road ?

I had looked into it but I piecemealed a lift kit together buying parts on here. This all started when I needed new leaf springs and rear shocks. I didn't even want a lift, but we all know what this forum can do to you. Ended up with nearly brand new SR5 front and rear shocks and leaf springs, and 2" front spacers and 1" blocks and new u bolts for the rear - all for $180. I don't do any rock crawling and have had spacer lifts on other trucks that were fine for my uses, so I was pretty happy with the deal I got. At this point I have installed the new leaf springs and rear shocks, but haven't done the lift or front at all.

Im up to the challenge of taking yours apart. If you want to try it.

If not, @DOUBLLD can definitely do it.

Haha no I haven't put the blocks in (part of "the lift" IMO) for that reason.

And finished, plus some Huskey front mud flaps that I had purchased from awhile back.

    Thank you @fatfurious2

Thanks! I have no complaints with them at all they are great. I need to find a better place to mount them so they can be closer to the ground and more effective as fog lights. But I love them
