I don't know of any offsite camp areas. I do know there is no campfires allowed except for designated campfire rings at a few designated spots only. You can bring gas fire pits if you like, it's not the same I know.

This is the Expo campground rule for campfires: https://www.overlandexpo.com/faq/

NO open (wood or charcoal) fires allowed in the dispersed free camping areas. Cookstoves (propane, white gas, etc) and gas-powered campfire units okay. (Fires are allowed, if conditions permit, in the paid reserved county campground only in existing fire rings and in the grill boxes.)

Sweet thanks for the info last year we just camped back in the trees so we could have a camp fire but with the new location it doesn't look like that's gonna be an option unless we head out a bit

    exactly...

We'll be out camping a ways ourselves.. Still think this venue is such a terrible choice.

We're likely going to be camping South, down Schnebly Hill Road and off Hot Loop Trail FR 153A. Our other option is to cut through Munds Park, going East on FR 240 and then up FR 133A to FR 133. Campfires have been legal in both areas the last 3+ years we've been going to the Expo.

I'm with @XPOTRPR, I'm highly sckeptical of this years venue. I've been going to the Expo since it was located down past Tucscon and I think the Mormon Lake area is a much better venue than the new Flagstaff venue. But we'll see...

I just don't understand why they would have an expo... For outdoor living, camping, overlanding, etc. In a parking lot... With no fires, etc. Lame.

We will probably be out around Mormon lake again tbh.

So the girlfriend and I are going to be heading up from San Diego for the event. We are actually volunteering for the event so we will probably be there by Friday morning to Sunday. Should be an interesting trip and I'm hoping to learn a lot. Anyone heading out from San Diego?

That actually sounds like a decent plan. Which way are you going? Best routes to take? I'm seeing it be 7-8 hours depending on which way you go. Going out the 8, and into Phoenix is a horrible route. Very boring. Haha.

We were going to head across 40, camp somewhere along the way and then dodge potholes heading up to Flagstaff in the morning.

Would be cool. How funny. That's my sister in laws birthday too. So that might be another reason it might be hard to go. We might be doing something with her haha
