    Odd. The only thing is can think of is that the cold is a factor considering you're in Alaska. I've come to conclude that the 3M exterior mounting tape is not as effective in lower temperatures - I bring them inside my home in the winter months to adhere the letters. I think for your situation perhaps adhering with epoxy would be a better solution. Even though the letters and mesh are aluminum, because of the powder coat finish I'd suggest using Loctite Plastic Epoxy.
