This has by far been the most criticized roll out of any Tacoma generation.

24k miles on my 2016. It's been a good truck so far. I'm pretty happy with it.

The engine's rpm band is higher than the older gen. You really have to use the pedal to go. Once you get the rpms up it scoots. It also doesn't seem to mind rpm.

Transmission is a little shift happy. No big deal. Some can't adjust to the changes.

I'm not logging in and posting new complaint threads 3 or 4 times a day. Has JD Power, Car and Driver, Consumer Reports etc ever been so critical of the Tacoma? I think expectations were high and it's been a little bit of a let down. That's all....

True, nothing new, you bitch about the same stuff every day, nothing new.
For months all differentials were failing because of the whining, but you fixed yours with driveline angle this week I see with a lift.
Howling holes from wind up front for half a year, fixed with five cent plugs.
    Etc.
You hate the truck yet put thousands in upgrades $$$ into it ?

Your alternatives are the Colorado and Ridge. That's why Tacos are selling.

1/4 mile is just as fast as 2nd gen, and it beats the 2nd in the gauntlet tow by 45 secs. All facts.

I went from a 2000 4Runner to a 2017 Taco. I'm happy with the upgrade. A little less ooomph but better gas mileage. Build quality seems to be just as good as the 4Runner. As far as i4/V6, Auto/Manual, SR/SR5/Sport/OR etc, get what suits you. Most people on this forum seem to love what they have.

One would hope there would be better build quality coming from a 17 year old vehicle

The 2000 4Runner was a daily driver for 17 years without any major repairs. It doesn't get any better than that.

Our 2016 4Runner has been flawless(built in japan) Wish I could say the same for my 2016 Tacoma. Oh well it is what it is...

Despite what smitty and others will say, my auto works great and I have had zero issues with my truck. Does the gas/brake pedal take getting used to? Yup. But to me that's like any new car that you've never driven before. You figure it out and get good at it. It will let you drive it like a grandma though, but if you give it gas, it goes.

    Love mine.

GM sucks and Ridgeline is ugly....and feminine. I want to buy a Tacoma because it's the best, not because it's better than a piece of junk from GM and a girly truck from Honda.
