Heavy loads in truck bed - A fix for squeaky rear leaf springs?

So I've had squeaky rear leafs since about 6000 miles (about 10k now), but we hauled ~900lbs worth of tile yesterday and now no signs of squeaking at all. Pure coincidence or some silly "fix" / "workaround" of the near 100 year old suspension technology? Anyone haul heavy loads in the truck and still have squeaks? Either way it didn't bother me; just thought it was odd it went away. Top is loaded, bottom is not. Which also surprised me that it didnt sag that much either.

I'm at 15k and haven't had his happen yet. I hear it's common though.

@OP. Maybe the load pressure grounded out dust/debris. Is it possible to grease/lube if it bugs you? I've never had this issue. *Knocks on wood*

 

I've heard you shouldn't grease or lube the bushings. Not sure why exactly. And it didnt bother me, just thought it was odd it went away after hauling stuff.

 

AeroKroil is pretty good for lubrication. People have to spray them down every few thousand miles.

 

Toyota has a tsb for it. I seen it but don't have the number for it I belive they clean and lube the bushings. I'll get the number for it when I get a chance when at work.

OP could always get new rear springs... or get larger radio knobs = easier to turn up the volume..

I had intermittent rear spring squeaking that began a few months after getting my truck in May 2016. Mentioned it to the dealer at my 5K service, but they couldn't duplicate it. The squeaking continued off and on, often would happen as I got in or out of the truck. Not thinking it would do any good, but tried spraying some Marvel Mystery lubricant between the leafs. Hasn't squeaked since...after about 6 months and 5k miles.

 

I put 2400 lbs of concrete bags in mine... only rated a little over half of that I believe. No squeaks... yet.

My Dakars don't squeak nearly as much under load, but they always return to a state of squeakiness after. I am guessing the load adjusted the springs a bit. I wonder, was that the first heavy load yo uhauled?

BTW, the rear mounted snorkel is cool.

 

Yep no one reads lol. And yeah, the most I hauled before that was less than 300lbs im guessing.

 

spray the rear leafs with water and clean off sand and dirt. Let them dry and coat them with an oil undercoating. Make sure to get the whole leaf absolutely drenched. Let it dry for a bit and you should be good. I did this with my stock leafs and it worked for me.

 

I consistently haul between 500 and 1000 pounds and haven't had the squeaking issue. Whether that has anything to do with it or not I have no clue...

I've hauled a few loads of anywhere from 300-1500 lbs with my shortbed, and it squeaks all the time. Going to address it along with a few other minor issues (driver headrest, sticking passenger-side climate control knob) at my 15,000 mile service by the dealership. Sounds like an old mattress/bedframe. Really, really noticeable at low speed with window(s) down in parking garage at the office.
