6112 in front. 1.5 as high as it will go? I thought I read you could get 2.

    Pogo sticks? That is funny...

I kinda like the pogo sticks on the highway... not so much up a steep windy country road.

Looking to upgrade the shocks on a 17 OR as well ( no lift ).......the more I read the more I am not sure.......saw a ton of comments saying 5100's are great improvement but I also see that some say they are harsh but what is their definition of harsh?....was going to go 5100's being a daily driver with some " mild " offroading..

5100s are probably the cheapest way to lift outside of using spacers for the front. If you preload the stock springs it's going to ride stiffer/harsher. I have also seen some say the 5100s maybe overdampened for our trucks. I don't know but I do know the 6112s come with springs and ride great. They'll provide up to 2" of lift. If you want to start stacking a bunch of armor bumpers and other stuff on the truck to add weight you'll need to look at stiffer rate springs. As a general rule of thumb keeping it at 2 inches or less is ideal to avoid other long-term issues and the need for other aftermarket parts. If you spend 35 to 40 grand on a truck trying to lift for cheap maybe not the best approach.

On my '15, the bearing failed within 4 months of purchase and the replacement failed almost exactly 1 year later. I have the ECGS replacement waiting to go in.

Thanks for the imput...in all honesty I am not looking to do any lift ,...maybe just take a little of the bounce out of the stock setup ( for lack of a better description )...sound as if the 5100's may ( key word being "may") do it but not sure............can the 6112's be set to stock height and is it a better way to go being that the spring and shock of the 6112 are designed to be together.

Yes they are fully adjustable. They are an improved shock and spring setup. You're going to be making an improvement in handling on and offroad with these. If you want to balance out valving with the rear eventually you can add 5160s back there.

I think you would be making a worthwhile investment to step up to the 6112. You can get them for around $600-650 if you shop around and if you decide to lift in future you'll have the option. If not they'll ride awesome. You could just level the front with them too. You spent all that money on a new truck might as well upgrade and not downgrade the suspension

Thanks..I think I am leaning towards the 6112 setup now (depending on price and availability here in Canada)...what are your thoughts on the 5100 vs the 5160's for rear..or would the 5100 be closer to the stock Tacoma OR setup?

5160s are valved to compliment the 6112.

I have 5100's with OME 888 (2.5 inch). The ride is not harsh at all. For what it is, its a great entry level lift setup. Better then using a leveling kit and blocks imo. I never felt or notice any type of vibration Been driving it hard for the last 6k miles. Ordered Everything from @HeadStrong Off-Road

So those 5160s for the rear are longer for a 1-1.5" rear lift? Thought the 5100 rear weren't any longer, just better dampening.

I really was looking forward to installing it until I decided that I really need a 4Runner (family) so I just ordered a 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium and will probably do a similar Bilstein setup on that one too. I will have to sell the other stuff on the Buy/Sell/Trade boards... Kind of a bummer.

I am really pretty psyched about it. My first real car was an 86 4Runner with the 22RE engine. I did 30k in road trips out west in that truck (not caring for it AT ALL) and it always got me where I was going. Best car I ever had. Literally 100% no worries.

Just for reference, my real first car was a 82 Triumph Spitfire. I think that thing actually worked for 3-4 months out of the year that I owned it. Lucas electronics are not awesome.
