I assume and could be wrong (have been many times before what can I say?) that you are saying that if the vibration continues with the trans in neutral that it wouldn't be anything from the trans forward most likely leaving the culprit of the drive shaft?

I will be sure to give it a whirl. It's just so weird because it's so inconsistent. I just drove from jersey to Charleston SC about 700 miles and the sweet spot with little to no vibration changed all throughout the drive. It's craziness

I looked at the factory manual and the first thing they mention to check for driveline vibration is the tailshaft bushing in the transmission extension housing... makes sense to me.

    Hi Guys,
I know this thread is too repetitive, but I am experiencing a floorboard/steering wheel vibrate as soon as I get 40 mph or more and I need the help for somebody that probably experienced the same issue.

My truck is 2001 Tacoma 4WD, automatic, lifted 3" (Toytec), 285/70/17" Toyo Open Country Tires, OEM Steel Toyota Wheels (Spare Wheel).

This truck has done those replacements:
    - Front and Rear Wheel Bearings. (Toyota)
    - Free wheel hub added so drive axles aren't moving when I'm driving normally. (All parts Original)
    - Rack Pinion Bushings (Energy Suspension).
    - Outer Tie Rods (555 Brand).
    - Lower Ball Joints (Toyota).
    - ECGS clamshell bushing
    - SPC Upper Arms Adjustable.
    - Engine Mounts (Toyota).
    - T/M Mount. (Toyota)
    - Rear One Piece Driveshaft.
    - LCA Bushings. (Whiteline).
    - Tack Weld Steering Column.
    - Alignment and Balancing (Local Toyota Dealer).

I tried installing another set of radial tires (245/70/17) to see if the problem was the toyo tires design (All Terrain) or any tires defect but the vibrate still present.

At this point, I don't know if this kind of vibrate is normal for lifted tacoma's trucks, believe or not this nightmare starts when I lifted the truck.

I appreciate any help or suggestion about it.

Thanks in advance and sorry for this too long description.

I’ve been experiencing the same issue for the past 10,000 miles or so, even before I installed my 3” lift. About 45-60 the vibes are the worst. I’ve replaced the following during the build:

    Brake rotors/pad (SP Peak/Hawk)
    Brake drums/shoes (NAPA)
Rear ebrake line bracket extension (on dif)
    Driveline support bearing
    SPC UCA
    Icon 2.5 vs extended
    All Pro Exp leaf packs
Trd beadlock style wheels (I think made by method UK) and BFG KO2 33s
I tested with old and new tires, with and without spidertrax spacers and there is no difference. Rebalanced both sets of tires and have had two alignments done.

I removed my real driveshaft and drove around in front wheel drive and the vibration was horrendous, magnified. Next step is pull the front drive shaft to test if it’s a u joint or bearing on that end. I also plan on doing the ecgs bushing swap when I find the time.

It looks like my CVs are a bit stressed and suspect I need to buy the extended cv axles from rock auto. But I should note that the vibration started bad at 68,000 miles on a completely stock truck and has not significantly changes since. Now at 78,000 miles

I also suspected engine/trans mounts, but good to know it didn’t do anything for you and maybe I’ll hold off.

If these don’t produce and results, I’m taking it to a shop. Anyone who says this vibration is normal is lying to themselves.

    Hi @Glamisman,
Sorry to come back with this thread, by the schematic below which bushing are you referring?
    Thanks in advance.
