I am thinking about selling the old girl. :(
I want to keep it forever, but its not the safest vehicle on the road and I am considering moving to a third gen. In reality I will probably still keep it but I'd like to know what someone might pay.
    So here is the details:

    1996 3.4L 4x4 with the LX package.
Power windows and locks (no keyless entry)
    Cruise control.
    ~126k miles
chips and scratches in paint, hood isnt very pretty
Frame is excellent, very little surface rust underneath the truck
Mechanically in great shape, the idle is a little high ~900 rpm probably the pcv valve or something. The airbag light is on. Waterpump was replaced at 90k as preventative maintence, new starter was done at 85k

    Mods exterior:
-4.56 regear front and rear by ECGS
-Rear suspension setup is a wheelers offroad 6 leaf pack, axle degree shims, extended brake lines, bilstien 5100s.
-Front has 5100s with Eibach coils.
    -Clear corners/turn signals
    -Morimoto h1 headlight retrofit
    -Spyder LED taillights
    -Magnaflow catback w/18 inch muffler.
-Linex spray in bedliner with UV protectant.
    -15" AR Baja wheels
    -33x1050 BFG Ats
    -Better Built black toolbox
    -Larger 2000-04 style mirrors
    -Rigid D2 Dually led pods

    Mods interior:
-Wet okole seat covers with lumbar air pockets
    -rubber mats
-Pioneer head unit with bluetooth, small alpine amp, polk audio and kicker speakers, Kicker sub
-LED light converted dome and gages
-Sound deadening added to floors and back wall by me
    -Fancy 4x4 shift knob

I have dealer installed running boards, all stock lights and floor mats.

Once again this isn't a for sale ad, I probably wont even let go of it, I just wanted to know a private party value I could expect from a buyer who wants a nicely built yota.

Heres more, old interior pic but its basically the same

I would say around the south probably 7k with the right buyer. If it's been a southern truck all it's life with no rust.

Dealer would probably ask 8k for it if they sold it.

Inside as clean as the outside?

Well in California I'd say youd get at bare minimum $8000 - $10,000 it's a nice truck if everything feels right I'd stay right at 9000 but my market is way different from yours I'll sel a salvaged tile vehicle for the same as yours

Yeah the intior is just as clean, under the seat covers the seats look great other than a tear on the vinyl on the side of the passenger seat. My grandpa bought it new and its been in the south since then.

If I were in NC, I would take it off your hands for $10500, that would be a great truck for my son, he would love it for sure...providing he fit in it.

With as good of shape that your Tacoma is in, I, personally, would not part with it.

10k easy in my area of NC. Won't sell the first day but someone will eventually come along willing to pay good money for a nice truck.

You won't get close to what you think it's worth. I tell people to part out their trucks if they have a lot of after market goodies, you will never see that money again in a re-sale. Trucks sell the same stock as they do with all the bells and whistles so you basically have a non-trd 96 Tacoma. I don't see it selling for more than $6,500. I sold a similar truck about a year ago except it had a brand a new engine with 40k on it, dealer installed pushing 4.88's, air lockers front and rear, trail armor all around, trd headers, led lights all around, brand new 32" KM2's, etc, etc. Pretty much every conceivable add-on in existence and it took 6 weeks to sell for $8,500.

Anyone in this thread saying they'd buy it "right now for X dollars" is full of it. Heard that before... Money talks and I don't see anyone dishing. Sorry to be a negative Nancy here, just trying to be real.

Nancy do you have sand in your vagina ? The key is to wait 6 weeks are nothin I know people who wait a year to get 10 grand for there stock Tacoma with 320 thousand miles on it , there's the right person for every truck in California if I saw a truck like that for 8500 Id of jumped on it in a heart beat your area must not be big on tacomas

Y'all are right haha, I don't want to sell it. Maybe I'll wait several years for the issues with the 3rd gens to get fixed and save up enough to own both this and a new one.

Like I said in my first post you obviously didn't read, money talks, so spare me your cheap words and put up or shut up. There are tons of trucks like the one I sold that likewise never sell. There may be a right person for every truck but there are a lot more assholes with unwanted opinions

I follow the California market for Tacomas by checking craigslist daily. I often email sellers and many trucks that are not outrageously priced and in good condition with relatively low miles sell within 24 hours (DCs 4x4 especially). Based on what I've seen, this truck is worth around $8,500 in the CA market (assuming rust free chasis). It is potentially worth more to the right buyer valuing your mods.

I am not disagreeing that people throwing out large sums in this thread may be full of it. But the California market for these trucks is hot. However, OP isn't even close to CA market so its really all just hypothetical haha. My 0.02
