i just install a kiwi3 w/ obd fusion and the toyo enhanced diagnostics add-on (Toyota custom PIDs). So here's my review of the first 5min of use...

Kiwi3 - The Kiwi3 is one of the few wireless scan tools that will connect via BT with the iphone without having to jailbreak and thus the reason for the $100 price tag.

The kiwi3 connected instantly to my iphone via BT - did not even have to open the BT settings or BT pin numbers. The unit is lightning fast. Data is updated instantly with no delays.

obd fusion - The dash board is feature rich and easy to use. the enhanced diagnostics has hundreds of Toyota's custom PIDs including the tranny temps. I'm very pleased with the setup.

    Cost $120
    Kiwi $100
    OBD Fusion: $10
Toyota Enhanced Diagnostics (OBD Fusion in-app purchase): $10

    Fusion.jpg

update: I compared the fusion's tranny temps to the OEM paperclip a/t temp check mode and fusion was dead-on. the oil temp light came on at 97F and started flashing at 115F. So fusion has cracked the nut for sure.

well worth the money after reading all the post about accuracy concerns with the custom pid formulas floating around.

There are two tranny temp PIDs in fusion. the oil temp light on the dash is synced with the funsion's tranny temp 1 pid. The tranny temp 2 was always 1F ahead of temp1 for an idle warmup.

I'm currently debating between the Kiwi3 and the BlueDriver. The BlueDriver doesn't require any mobil app purchases, but I don't think it can report A/T temps either.

i went with Kiwi3 because they boast about speed, support BT for ios, list obd fusion as a supported app and the obd fusion app supports non obd2 pids.

i looked at both. bluedriver does not support non-standard obd2 pids including the tranny temp. in general i have a problem with companies not listing product support on their web site. they only list marketing info - no manuals posted. they refer to the app as where to find the manual.

so i had to turn to Amazon for answers. sad in my opinion. so here is what i found on amazon - question was answered by the parent company rep. - Lemur. the second response is from a customer.

    from Amazon
    Question:
This tool can read transmission temps on Toyota 2015?
    Answer:
    Hello!
Unfortunately, transmission temperature is not a standard OBDII live data PID and is not currently supported by BlueDriver.
By Lemur Monitors on September 21, 2016
    Question:
Will this device give readings on the transmission temperature?
    Answer:
Looking at the available data in the program, there is no transmission temp there. Data will vary by vehicle as to what is supported and will be displayed to you. But transmission temp is not on the master list.

I've got the Fusion app and decided to buy the Toyota Enhanced Diagnostics and the App is telling me I don't have a vehicle listed and check the Vehicle Editor for my list of vehicles. Yet I do have 2015 Toyota Tacoma selected in the app. o_Oo_O:(

I guess I'll ignore that, purchase the enhancement, and see what happens.:fingerscrossed:

:0 That is really cool. Does some wireless hub plug into the OBDII port or something?

I had same issue - u have to select the vehicle info before ordering. For me I left off the engine info. It's list as "option". Once u get the car info correct it will show as compatible.

What are the limitations with the Kiwi3 or the associated apps in regards to multiple vehicles? For example, if I buy this for may Tacoma, can I also use it for my son's Charger or Wife's Rav? Can I use the same app and only pay for the additional vehicle specific data if I want/need to?

U can have multiple vehicles w/ fusion. Not sure if there is a limit.

The kiwi3 will work with any USA Obd2.

The vehicle specific support is by MY.

I only see Ford, Mazda, Toyota listed.

    @tsb

So I had Fusion and I just bought the Enhanced Diagnostics (Figured out after purchasing thru the app you have to go back and tell the app to download it:rolleyes:). I now have the checkmark, like your screenshot, by the 2015 ED. I look under the SAE PIDs and I don't see Transmission Temps listed for either sensor. I've restarted the app and the tablet :annoyed:

Since there were about 200 PIDs listed originally I have no idea if any of the "Enhanced Diagnostics" are showing up in the list at all.

Did yours just suddenly appear or is there a separate list, secret handshake, o_Oo_O

BTW, I bought a Amazon special ELM 327 reader that was Bluetooth and it didn't work with my iPhone 6, read where others had problems too. Bought a WiFi to replace it and it works. Could be another advantage to your $100 reader vs my $20 one

The Toyo PIDs are not in SAE PIDs

The Toyota PIDs are in a separate list. "Toyota, Lexus, Scion", see pics below.

A couple things to check to make fusion has id'ed your truck.

    I assume u have connected & fusion has ID'ed u truck?

Do u see "you have one vehicle supported by..." in settings under extra purchases on the "Toyota, Lexus..." menu? See pics below.

I bought the app back in December and had it running for about a month on my Tacoma. Then I set it aside. The other day I saw this thread and the Toyota Enhanced PIDs available and decided to give it a go again.

As I mentioned before my 2015 Tacoma was and is listed under my vehicles and yet when I went to purchase the Enhanced it said I didn't have a vehicle listed for the enhancement. I purchased it anyway.

Thanks for the screen grabs. When I get to the PID page I don't see the "Toyota, Lexis, Scion" listed so even though I can see in my Amazon purchases the Enhancement listed and I did initiate the download it resides somewhere unknown.

To add another bit of fun I took my tablet out to my truck and it no longer sees the ELM 327 reader. It's listed in the app but no longer finds it to connect to.

    Wonderful.

Do u have the engine selected on the "option" tab. This is a manual entry.

I have a Kiwi3 arriving Tuesday. I plan to do a drain/fill of my tranny fluid next weekend, so I plan to use the enhanced PIDs with the tranny temps. Do you guys leave your Kiwi plugged into the OBD port all the time? No electrical drain when the vehicle is off?

So that worked. Under that option I had "Access Cab", when I selected it again and picked "4.0L" the enhancements showed up. Can't remember where Access Cab came from.

Thanks so much for the help.
